LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

I listened to the whole game last night and it sure sounded like Murdock played a heck of a game. The Lakers need to come out hard tonight and get some points.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Alaska has relatively untested goalies this season. They're looking for one of them to step up and take charge. The Lakers only had 19 shots on goal last night and that's not nearly enough even against a good seasoned goalie let alone inexperienced ones.

I agree Bill the Lakers need to crash the net and look for rebounds. Buddy should be a royal pain to the other teams goalie.

Perhaps the Lakers were unprepared for the big ice. I wonder if the Lakers practiced at the Big Bear before the trip?

How about this for a novel idea. Stay out of the friggin penalty box. Too many hooking and holding penalties to start the year, especially one young man in particular.

Yeah, watching the game on the video feed, there were very few good chances last night. Power was wide open in front late in the 2nd, and shot it over the goal. Mondardo was right in the slot with 3 to go in the game and shot it right in the goalies chest. That is really the only 2 good chances I remember from last night.

Murdock was outstanding and should get the start again tonight.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

No they did not practice down on the Rez.

That's a surprise. Hopefully they will put it to good use next year since they play four teams on olympic ice (UAA, UAF, NMU, MSU-M) next season.

In other news, Tyler Marble was named NAHL goalie of the month for October and posted another shutout for the Eagles last night.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

That is how you get a win with good defense. Murdock and the rest of the Lakers played very frustratingly good defense tonight. I begrudgingly say that we were very fortunate in getting the split this weekend. Well played and good games Lakers fans.

Nooks had 49 SOG last I saw. It wasn't their defense, it was Murdock being a beast in net. We didn't even score until late in the 3rd. Lakers definitely earned it.

Nice to see the Lakers finally get a Saturday win. A split in Alaska is definitely a successful trip especially with the injuries the Lakers have had to deal with.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Unfortunately Steven Summerhays of Notre Dame will probably get it.

Summerhays home versus Western Michigan:
Record: 1-1
Shots on goal: 39
Saves: 36
Goals: 3
GAA: 1.5
Save pct: .923

Murdoch at Alaska:
Record: 1-1
Shots on goal: 89
Saves: 85
Goals: 4
GAA: 2.0
Save Pct: .955

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

I was camping all weekend but was glad to see the Lakers were able to salvage a split on the road behind what was apparently a fantastic weekend performance by Murdock, playing like that will certainly silence all of the Ravn talk and may buy him more playing time even after KK returns.
