LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

There will be a home and home series against Michigan Tech as well. The Lakers play them at home October 11 (Thursday) and then travel to Houghton to play them there October 13.

Happy to see that come to fruition, and it should be a great series. Kapalka is not the raw freshman getting his first start that Tech got to face two years ago in the Soo.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

It's more than likely the Lakers playing at Wisconsin.

This schedule addresses my biggest complaint about playing a weak nonconference schedule. Union, MTU, UW may all be national contenders and a winning record out of this group is different than beating Huntsville, Canisius and Vermont. If we play the schedule you are saying and finish with the same record we had last year I will have no complaints. This is a schedule that can qualify us for the national tournament if we can do a job on the ice. I will be disappointed if I see Huntsville instead of UW.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

I thought the Lakers went to Huntsville for 2 last year and they came here for 2 this year.

It could still be UAH. Wisconsin's schedule is only tentative so things might change. We should know for sure when Wisconsin officially releases it's schedule.

I think that was supposed to be the case. I am guessing that there were no common open weekends for the two teams to get a series scheduled.

And that is why no one takes anything Truth Squad says seriously. Real men stand behind what they say. They don't delete the posts to cover up their trail.

I believe him... I Believe he is a tool bag.... I believe he is bitter.... I believe he needs to get over it...get a grip...go away..... I believe he needs therapy... I believe all this about TS's BS....

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

I am going to guess the 14-15 of December.

I am going to guess December 7-8.

Also Wisconsin releases it's schedule tomorrow. We should know for sure if we play the Badgers over Christmas break, which we should. If we aren't on Wisconsin's schedule, then we will play UAH at home.

You people and your vitriol that is spewed on a daily basis against former coaches who won NCAA championships, former star players and their parents and anyone who isn't a blind sheep follower for the current coach has no limits or end and you should be ashamed of not only where your little college and hockey program has gone the last 8 years but how you good ole boys up there treat good people and kids that don't follow an agenda or play ball and it's a good thing for "unnamed donors" being buddies with the current coach and you people for the ultimate job security after 8 years of lower division finishes, dwindling attendance, playoff crowds in the hundreds, league reprimands, and more of the same excuses pointing the blame elsewhere.

Yes, I'm sure you are an expert in the daily spewing of vitriol. But explain this to me, if Frank Anzalone is such a great coach at this stage of his career. why is he not coaching anywhere? Why didn't he get a call from Western? They had an opening two years in a row? Michigan State? Ohio State? Bowling Green? Michigan Tech? Mankato? If he's so good, why didn't any of them show interest? Explain that one to me.

NMU will play at the Soo on December 14 & 15.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Personally I like seeing a 21-year old freshman coming in. Lots of time in the juniors. Lots of experience. He isn't going to be the second coming of Paul Coffey, but in college hockey a good, solid, stay-at-home defenseman is so important. 5'11", 185 is not huge, but that is where 3 good years of development will come in handy. Nice addition to the team.

And after three years in Fairbanks, for this kid Sault Ste. Marie is going to seem like Miami Beach.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

7) Playoff attendance in the first and second rounds has been terrible everywhere since they revolve around spring break. NMU had 300-500 people at their first round series last year. Thats an NCAA issue..

And specifically a CCHA . . . whether life will be better in the WCHA is yet to be seen, but in my opinion it can't be worse than the CCHA. If there was an award for Worst Marketing For A Sports League, the CCHA would win hands-down. 2nd round games weren't much better, by the way. And the Joe was 2/3 empty, at best.

Just a question for you, who are these former STAR players against whom the vitriol is being spewed? Because 10 points in 51 games is not a star by any stretch of the imagination. It's a 4th liner some games and a coat and tie in others. That is not a star.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

truth!!!!

Nobody complained about Sellers, either, by the way. I see virtually nothing but support for the players, past and present. There is the random on-line dust-up over the roles of a 3rd string goalie but those have never gotten personal about the player. But Mr. Sellers came into this thread and . . . well . . . the rest is history. He made his son an issue. And even then, only a few posters have taken that bait (myself, as noted earlier, shamefully included). And if you want to make your kid an issue, and open up his record books, and open up a player's skill level for direct discussion -- you will likely get what that for which you ask: e.g., you get some people who will tell the truth. Most people herein are too polite to badmouth a player -- sometimes even when it is deserved. Most people here understand that even the worst LSSU hockey player is probably a better hockey player than the best hockey playing poster on this site, or the best hockey playing student or fan at LSSU.

So most posters don't even take the bait (Bill, for instance, or Mr. Frick). Those who might take the bait are highly unlikely to even think about attempting to be critical of a former player. and then there are a few of us (again . . . shame on us, really) who feel compelled to respond (from time to time) to Truthy's blathering blithering nincompoopery. And that sort of response might include attacking a core premise of a particular poster's raison d'etre. That means that Nik Sellers' play as a Laker is going to commented upon.

What other player -- PLEASE feel free to search back in the USCHO postings for the past few years -- what other player was negatively commented upon?

And I don't mean "he had a bad game" or "He has not been playing well lately." I mean the critical review for which Mr. Sellers seems to take offense vis-a-vis his offspring. Any?

Lastly -- its OK to not like the coach. Its OK to not like the direction of the program. After a while, of course, and after several hundred identical postings, it just gets stupid. And after a while, of course, the triumphant crowing each and every time the Lakers lose gets old. I mean, we expect the NMU folks to remind us of our failures -- but generally the NMU posters who troll over to the LSSU page are decent people who like a good fiesty rivalry as much as we all do. And frankly, the NMU psoters aren't just cut-and-pasting repeated tautings.
