Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

Whatever just keep making stuff up and focus on your golf games where you good ole boys up there can come up with more excuses for a lackluster season under this administration. Western, Bowling Green and the rest of college hockey is enjoying the status quo at your little college.

LSSU is not "my little college", and after last night, MTU won't be golfing until at least Tuesday morning :p. I'm officially convinced that you are the dumbest troll in the history of USCHO. It's like you don't even try.

EDIT: More deletions. What a puss.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

LSSU by far the Worst Game of the Year, not one player was trying to get to the put first
The team was not ready for tonight's game

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

Roque had seven years and time for a change . Roque will just keep this team close enough to keep fans thinking , maybe next year . Please don't tell me in another year the Lakers will be in a much weaker league and Roque can be a winner there . He can't .

Ha ha ha ha another stellar season under this administration. Let the blame game begin. Enjoy the golf course and watching the playoffs on tv up there. Keep defending Jimbo for another season. You people are so predictible.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

Pretty much total domination by Western tonight. The game wasn't nearly as close as the final score would indicate. The Broncos came out with much more energy than the Lakers right from the starting whistle and skated circles around them. They controlled the boards in both the offensive and defensive ends. With a 4-0 lead going into the 3rd period, they backed off their forecheck a little and that's probably the only thing that allowed the Lakers to make the shots on goal and final score a little more respectable. Broncos were 2 for 3 on the PP; Lakers were 0-5 on the PP and didn't come close to scoring.

On the plus side, Campbell's goal was a laser wrist shot; very nice goal. He also wrang one off the crossbar with about 20 seconds left in the 2nd period on a shot off a faceoff win. And Trotman blasted one in from the point. Too bad the game was already out of reach when the Lakers finally scored.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

The Lakers were playing like hell in the first period and the coach and fans see it. Stop the game with your time out, gather the players around the bench and put the foot in their bottoms. You have no more nights and you actually use the time out with ninety seconds left in the game to try and get something going . Just another season with the same hopes shot down the toilet.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

I like to blame someone else to ease my misery with another middle division finish and a 2nd-round playoff exit. We people down here haven't a clue. I know I am pathetic and full of vitriol and excuses.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

In my opinion, the Lakers need to finish higher in the standings to have home ice for the first round of the playoffs. Winning a best of three series on the road significantly favors the home team. For example, if it was a "one and done" series, BG would have eliminated Ferris State on Friday night. Now, tonight in the rubber game, the "mo" seriously favors the home team. Same goes for the UNH -BC series. BTW, BU blocked 41 shots in the game that ended eRLY IN THE SECOND OVERTIME fRIDAY NIGHT.

Btw, I could watch the UNH-BU game on two channels and couldn't watch any CCHA games Friday or Saturday nights on DirecTV........bummer

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

Congratulations Lakers. The team exceeded most expectations and showed growth. There are quite a few good young players in the system and a pretty good goalie to go with them. You took a step forward this year. Better days are ahead.

23 of the 27 2nd round series since the switch in 2005 have been won by the home team.
2007 Lake State, 2008-2009 Northern Michigan, 2010 Michigan.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

Roques magic is still working . People already saying maybe next season. Just as it was last year . Had it not been for the silly concept of the shootout ,Lake State would have finished below Notre Dame and Ohio State and that would have meant a 9th place finished . Get rid of the **** shootout. Even Crawford is now screaming we won the shootout and that means we won the game. The game is a tie,it's not a win. The shootout means you won another point but not the game. The Lakers won 4 shootouts. Do you see 4 more wins in the win column ?

Western came to play . Lakers wanted out of the Sault for a weekend.

The coach didn't have his team ready to play and they underperformed in big games. He'll be back, with his cheerleaders on here, good ole boys up there, and the "unnamed" donors friends ready to paint the empty seats blue with their "renovations", it will be more of the same for you people because you can't possibly be objective and will run over anything and anyone to promote a agenda. Enjoy the golf up there and I'll enjoy the new set of excuses.

Thanks Davy. We've got several pieces of the puzzle, but still need a few more. In particular, I think we've got a couple of good snipers at wing; we just need someone to feed them the puck more often in grade A shot locations and who can create the space to allow them to get there.

I've got a suggestion, donate money. Worked for Tech, wouldn't have been able to hire a $275k a year coach without donors at least initially. Financially, it has balanced out now.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2011-2012

Absolutely. We've got a couple of guys who have really good shots. The trick is to get them the puck in grade A scoring locations and for them to be able to get open there. If that happens, they can bury the puck. As I've pointed out in the past, and Lakerblue did recently, we're missing the high calibre center who can skate really well, is an excellent stick handler with good moves, and can carry the puck up ice and create space in the offensive zone. With the right centers who can feed them the puck, we've got at least a couple of wingers who could be 15-20 goal scorers per season.

Bill,we have this same conversation at the end of every season . Half the time we find players who produced this year actually produced less the following season and so forth . What you are saying in effect is , wait until next season . After seven years , we know what next season is going to be like. Seven years of Roque and the question should only be , do you actually think anything is going to change or just some high marks followed by the usual bottom tier finished and a short run in the playoffs under this system ?

I'm not saying I think it's going to be much better next season. Just because I think we've got a couple of guys who could potentially be 15-20 goal scorers, that doesn't mean they will be. Like I said, in order for them to put of those kinds of numbers, someone has to get them the puck in scoring position. We only have one forward recruited for next season, and I think he's a left winger. So that means our existing centers have to improve their skating and play making ability. If that doesn't happen, then it's still going to be tough for our wingers to score much.
