Tough weekend for the Lakers but from what I have heard they had some really bad luck on Friday night with a couple of deflections, fluke goals, and shots off of pads. On Saturday we were right there and could have received some favorable calls. Life on the road is tough. Back home this weekend against Northern and a very key series for Coach Roque and his Lakers. I have heard a lot of praise across the league for how he has handled the team this season and the amount of respect the boys and other coaches have for him. I know the truth squad's and a few others want to take shots at him all the time, but he has a very young team in the top four in the league, top 15 in the nation, and they are headed to even higher heights.

Truth Boy remembles "boot_walt_kyle" on the NMU threads. Quiet while things are going well, but lose a couple games and out of the woodwork he comes. Heck, they might even be the same person...

Lake State has had a good, better than expected start. It should be a great series this weekend, with both teams having winning records coming into the game. Hopefully the crowds will be great for the Pink promotion. It looks like your people have done a great job promoting the event. Here's to a great weekend of Yooper College Hockey and the Cappo Cup series!

I thought the Lakers palyed very well this weekend. OSU is a very good team that was underperforming for a few years, and now they have a coach who preaches up-tempo hockey. Osiecki should have had a D-I coaching spot long ago -- his Green Bay teams dominated the USHL. He also won a D-I title with North Dakota as an assistant. And he won it all in Wisconin in 1990 as a player. I had a bad feeling about him taking over OSU last year, because I felt his coaching combined with Markell's recruiting abilities would make a darn good Buckeye team. Markell also brought in nice players, but they never seemed to take OSU over the hump. Now they are -- so far - over the hump. The bubble may burst, but it didn't burst this weekend. So we should all relax.

The Lakers went down to Ohio and I thought played OK Friday night, although the score says otherwise.

Saturday night, however, on the road, tired, and facing a very good OSU team, the Lakers did not fold. Yes, they lost. But its hard to win on the road. Consider the sweep of Miami -- would you be complaining about splitting two road series -- at Oxford and at Columbus? Probably not. The Lakers are 2-2 in Ohio, on the road. Those are tough trips, against good teams. They played well enough to win Saturday, but OSU came out on top. In my opinion, there is no shame in that. You don't win them all.

Now, this is where the Lakers need the fans. We need to pack the Norris against NMU. These guys have been working their butts off, and they are going to want a lift. This is a great weekend coming up. Lets not dwell on losing two to OSU. I think, as the season goes on, you're going to see a LOT of teams losing two to OSU. Instead, lets understand that we have a very good LSSU team, playing a very important rivalry series this weekend against NMU.

Thanks. Yeah, this is the first time Truth Squad had posted this season. This is the first time all year the Lakers are struggling and then he pops up, which doesn't surprise me one bit. He will continue to bash Roque if the Lakers continue to struggle, but if the Lakers sweep NMU, he'll go away for a while.

Should be a good series. I think the Lakers will be playing ****ed off after getting swept.

I feel odd for posting in this thread but I dont see the usual NMU/LSSU thread around. I was just dropping in to ask where or if LSSU had a certain section for the away team fans. I will be making the trip this year. First time ever to Taffy.

Section D is behind the visitors bench, so that is normally were fans for away teams sit.

Note the change of game time for Friday is now 9:00 pm.

Not only is that funny, but its nice that OSU Hockey actually attracted enough fans to not only spell the entire sentence, but to also add a question mark at the end. A normal OSU crowd would have merely spelled "Wheres My Bik".

The last time you rang the victory bell, it was after getting swept by LSSU. Not sure the hockey gods appreciated that one!

The Lakers look very good. This may be the best series, and the most meaningful to both teams series, in a long time. Looking forward to some great college hockey!

I agree with you and it's weekends like this that most Laker fans wanted to go west with you to the WCHA.
