Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

The alumni office is offering a hotel group rate, brunch and pre-game receptions for the Colorado games. I received an e-mail about it this morning. Details here:

I haven't decided on this trip... I want to look at my finances because I'd like a house, in theory.

Monty, let me know what you're thinking. For myself, IIRC this is Columbus Day weekend... I'd like to strike for more breweries... Particularly I want to get over to Avery

A few of us have already booked.

It's the weekend after Columbus Day.

In non hockey news the University is in the process of purchasing the Lofts at Perkins Park and the Residences at Perkins Park. These will be converted into Dorms and be ready for the 2017-2018 school year.

For those that don't know these buildings are the mill and townhouses between Tsongas and LeLachuer. If you throw in the purchase of Notini's (across from Beer Works), East Campus just got a whole lot bigger.

Wow that's interesting, from pictures I've seen those look like real nice units. If they keep them as-is those are some luxury dorms.

I actually considered living there a few years back, but the price seemed high and there were many negative online reviews. Lots of complaints of student renters having loud parties and vehicle break-ins within that parking garage.

I usually don't have trouble finding a meter before the games, but I wonder if the school will open that garage for game parking, especially with the Notini lot going away.

Nice to see the campus continuing to expand.

I thought it was a rule to develop only if you don't take parking into consideration (sarcasm). They keep developing things that were parking and not creating any spaces. It isn't like there are any parking options around there except for the arena garage. Doesn't seem big enough to absorb all the parking that would be lost in Notini lot, etc

I never have a problem finding a spot on Father Morrissett Blvd even 20 or so min before puck drop. Granted the walk might be past cabot street, but there are usually spots there.

Re: Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

This is why rules committees should be disbanded every few years. The "lets do something" itch becomes too strong

I believe the thought process was in response to different conferences having multiple formats in the to address the increasing number of ties. This is supposed to give some uniformity to the process. DO I like it? Not really but at least it isn't a shoot out!

So does Scott Wilson get his name on the Cup?

It's possible that he could be added, but Scott only played in 24 games before getting hurt. The Penguins are allowed 52 names on the cup.

A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, in 1994 a stipulation was added to allow a team to petition the Commissioner for permission to have players' names put on the Cup if extenuating circumstances prevented them from being available to play.
