Laker Hockey 2009-10

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Lakers have 4 games left to make this a decent year. They can either finish above 500 or sink below that and also sink down in the standings. It is time to stop saying next year and say this year and finish the season strong and prove to the fans that they want to be better than they have been in years.

The play-offs are coming fast and you sure don't want to go into them falling back to the bottom of the standings.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Friday night was simply amazing. I may be a Northern fan but I am a hockey fan first. Honestly, it was one of the best wins Ive ever seen.

I think LSSU can easily sweep Alaska but I am not sure they can do it against NMU. Yea yea, LSSU beat the hell out of them earlier this year but the inflated score was a fluke. I have it on good authority that LSSU played the best in 8 years whereas NMU played the worst. I am still quite aware LSSU played much better. I am just saying. I see a split with NMU to close out the season.

Not that it couldn't happen, but it hasn't happened yet this year*. I sure hope the Lakers are feeling this confident.

*This assumes you are not one of those fans that thinks bonus points in a shootout count as a win.

I dont unlike most Lake State students...

I said they CAN easily sweep them. This is dependent on

1. Not being sloppy when passing
2. Cohesive defense
3. MW performing well

They have it in them if they play like they have been although I heard they were not their greatest Saturday. The talent is there, but it's a question if the chemistry shows up which seems to be the story of the lakers for the past 2 years.

Did anyone hear the radio show last night? What were the highlights? I could not seem to pick it up.

I don't think they had one; at least it wasn't streamed if they did. I think they are still scrambling around as a result of the change in ownership, making sure their most important obligations are met. I don't think the Laker Hockey Show is on that list of most important obligations. I wonder if they'll even have any more Laker Hockey Shows this season.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

They did have a hockey show on 1400am. And the signal was so much better, I could actually pick it up at my house. I didn't catch the whole show, due to the fact I have never been able to listen to 1400 from my home. Someone called and said they were getting it , so I tuned it in. Bill Crawford was doing a interview with Will Actons dad, who has something to do with the Toronto Maple Leafs. And, Mark St Angelo did the remainder of the show.

I tried the link at 1400AM a couple of times but couldn't pick up the show. Evidently it wasn't streamed. I guess it's good to hear that they are at least still having the show. Wonder if it will be streamed next week, or if they will make a podcast available.

I am saying there is plenty of talent on this team but I fail to see the chemistry consistently. They can sweep Alaska, if they have chemistry and dont play sloppy...which they have a tendency to do now and then

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I certainly hope the Laker Hockey Show continues and that the radio station does a podcast again. Not everyone lives in the Soo or even in Michigan for that matter, especially in this economy, so its nice to be able to hear whats going on with Laker Hockey. Ive gotta believe the families liked to hear the streaming show or podcast about how everything went after a weekend and what the coaching staff thought. Just something that is a nice feature for everyone near and far.

I commend Paul and everyone behind the scenes at 99.5 for bringing a little spirit about Laker Hockey back to the airwaves and our computers. I can only hope things will continue as they were and that this change isnt about the all mighty dollar...

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Their goal for the weekend should be to come out of it with at least 3 points, and not worry about what other teams may or may not be doing to help them. If the Lakers can focus on what "they" need to do and play solid hockey both nights, they'll be all right.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Looking forward to some great hockey this weekend at the CC. Both teams need points, and should be very hungry. I'm hoping for some good, fast, clean hockey (seems like a lot of tempers flaring around the country!). I think this is going to be a very low scoring weekend, but I've wrong in the past! I will say I've always had a soft spot for the Lakers. Small school/program like Alaska. That being said, I won't be cheering for you this weekend! Good luck.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

BG beat ND, Ferris over MSU, Miami over Nebraska, OSU beat WMU, NMU beat Michigan, Alaska over LSSU

Going into Saturday's games:

1. Miami 66
2. Ferris 46
3. MSU 43
4. NMU 42
Alaska 42
6. Neb-Oma 41
7. Michigan 37
8. OSU 36
9. LSSU 35
10. Notre Dame 32
11. BGSU 19
12. WMU 17

Alaska and Nebraska have 1 game left. Everyone else has 3.

Still quite the bunch between positions 2 through 10. Every point counts.
