"Jan. 8-9th: The Ultimate Hockey Weekend" Adrian @ Oswego, Plattsburgh @ Elmira

Re: "Jan. 8-9th: The Ultimate Hockey Weekend" Adrian @ Oswego, Plattsburgh @ Elmira

Without a doubt Adrian will be pumped up on Friday, but last weekend may cause them to have some additional self-doubt. And don't think for a minute that the Lakers don't fully appreciate the significance of this game.

I tend to agree, especially with the last sentence. And just because Oswego has played in their share of big games against good teams in the past does NOT mean that they would be looking past Friday night, or taking Adrian for granted, or anything of the sort. As a matter of fact, I believe the above statement is a nice advantage for Oswego. They HAVE played in big games, and know what it's like, and how to check the emotions and such.

We'll see. Hard to believe that it's 2 days away.

Re: "Jan. 8-9th: The Ultimate Hockey Weekend" Adrian @ Oswego, Plattsburgh @ Elmira

It's Hamline.

Just like its PlattsburgH. But exactly my point, who is Hamine....

No one said adrian wasn't going to be pumped up to face Oswego, I'm sure they will be the same way they were focused in on Hamline. However, someone did imply however that they had overlooked hamline, which only serves to discount any credit they earned by winning.

I doubt it, #10 vs #1....BIG difference....I doubt they will be the same "pumped up" as they were playing the #10 team that no one knows about then the #1 team. I'm sure Fogarty like any coach is going to say "its just another game", but anyone thats played sports knows there is something special about playing the #1 team in the entire nation.

They very well may have overlooked Hamline, thats for them to decide. But by the sounds of the game its exactly what a lot of people have said about Adrian, solid offense...skeptical defense. And when you play a decent team who can neutralize your offense, they can exploit your defense. In my 3 times seeing Adrian thats what I come up with.....

Remy, I doubt many plattsburgh fans could have found neumann on a map before last season, but that didn't exactly have anything to do with how the games went down. I'm not sure what anyone's geography skills have to do with the merits of a team's record or skill.

Absolutley does.....Hamline was/is a no name, call it what you want but until they can show me something other then a tie against a suspect SNC team and wins against this Adrian team. Hamline does not bring the same "merit" Oswego does, thats my point. Sure they tied SNC...Salem also beat SNC where is Salem now? You take out Adrians and SNC's winning %, Hamlines opponents have an amazing .262 winning %. If you are facing competition like that you should have a heck of a lot bigger goal differential then just 1.8...ask yourself What has Oswego done...and what has Hamline done......

All webb said leading up to the game was that he had no idea what to expect, which is a rarity. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Hamline win one and lose one, but apart from someone being thrashed handily, nothing would have really surprised me results-wise considering I didn't know what to expect from Adrian.

So you are calling Prez a liar then? The text message must have been fake right?

Matthew Webb said:
but what I've pointed out is that under Scott Bell they have quietly assembled a team full of productive Tier II Junior A players and a couple DI transfers (and a MJ kid).

Exactly...Hamline who? They were a tad over .500 last year...still a question mark in my eyes until they can prove some more. And in saying that, its exactly what people are saying...Having beat Adrian twice, if Adrian can take down Oswego it will give more merit to their two wins.....how hard is it to understand....

OZFEST said:
Has anyone seen both Adrian and Oswego play this year?

If the question is live in person, no...If the question is live on video then yes. I've seen Oswego twice and Adrian twice.

Webb's out playing hockey at phalen park, if you want the answer to that question, go skate out there and ask him.

By the way, if the same adrian team that lost to hamline beats oswego, it doesn't change anything. They're still the same teams regardless of the results. If it's a blowout, then sure that can change your perception of these past games. But if it's a one goal or two goal (with an empty netter) game that could have been won by a lucky bounce for either side, that doesn't really do much more than bunch the teams together.

Besides the 1 billion people in China who don't care, I'm pretty sure no one else cares if you know where a school is located. You having heard of them has nothing to do with how good they are. Pretty sure you hadn't heard of Gustavus before last season, and they ended up playing for the title.

Again, I'm not saying Hamline's going to walk their way to the title, or that they're guaranteed a spot in the NCAA's at all. But they're still a very solid, good team. Whether you've heard of them or not has *absolutely* no bearing on that.

Well we have one side of the story, and he hasn't denied sending the text, hense the drunk with cell phone excuse I was going with?

Wow way to go you're getting it...I think thats what we've said all along...It may not change the black and white score, but people will have a new perception of BOTH Adrian AND Hamline. I'm sorry you can't see that...oh wait you DID! It's been a big thing for the past 3 years can Adrian hang with the top teams, this is their chance. And IF they do win, close or not, they have PROVEN then can compete against the nations best.

Besides the 1 billion people in China who don't care, I'm pretty sure no one else cares if you know where a school is located. You having heard of them has nothing to do with how good they are. Pretty sure you hadn't heard of Gustavus before last season, and they ended up playing for the title.

Actually I did sorry, I've obviously been following DIII longer then you have... I guess I should have made it more simple for you...it was in reference that Hamline is/was a "no-name" team..besides the average 300 fans they get... hopefully you get the point...

Really it doesn't have anything to do with how good they are..?? I'm sure the majority of all the freshmen nationwide could all agree...

"Plattsburgh? Oswego? Norwich? Middlebury? St.Norberts? Who are they?? I want to go to Hamline!" ...right.....

Could this be their year? Who knows. But until this season, you havn't heard much in the means of Hamline. Hopefully that was simple enough for you to understand the "where they are on the map" is just a metaphor......

Again, I'm not saying Hamline's going to walk their way to the title, or that they're guaranteed a spot in the NCAA's at all. But they're still a very solid, good team. Whether you've heard of them or not has *absolutely* no bearing on that.

Nope it doesn't, just like your opinion we don't have to care about...fact is anoyone who has played against teams with just a .262 winning % you have to wonder how "good" they really are. Most junior teams could beat half the teams they have. They have yet to play the top 2 teams in their league. When they sweep this weekend and start putting up wins (and hardly) against better competition, just another mid pack team.

Hamline? Doesn’t sound kosher ;) – maybe some of the products from John Morrell? :p

Isn't Gustavus a Hobbit or this ?

As I have read this thread it has amazed me that not much fuss was made about the Norwich/Plattsburgh game and what effects it would have on the standings, which really don't mean much until seeding time. The 2nd and 3rd ranked teams play and everyone is waiting for the weekend games. I can't remember a week where the 1-3 & 5th ranked teams have all been in action against one another in someway. For Plattsburgh I have to congrat the team on taking on Norwich (second time) and Elimra in the same week. It would be nice to see interleague top ranked teams play more often in the season. I think Plattsburgh is the only team the consistantly plays the top ranked teams from 3 different leagues every year. Big kudos for the team and their fans for some great hockey.

Thanks for the kind words, though, I think it is "top ranked teams from 4 different leagues" - Oswego - SUNYAC, Middlebury - NESCAC, Norwich - ECAC East, Elmira - ECAC West. (though it is 3 out-of-conference leagues).

I would go with the three, because you have to play Oswego. You don't have to schedule those other teams.

But you do have to be fortunate enough (or jinxed) to be in a league with another "top ranked" team in order to "have" to play them (not that the SUNYAC is unique). And the wording was "consistantly plays", and not "consistantly schedules" - the PrimeLink alone is likely to see 4 "top ranked teams" from 4 different leagues.

Not taking anything away from Plattsburgh's schedule but keep in mind their location allows them to play Middlebury and Norwich with consistency every year as opposed to most of the other SUNYAC and ECAC West teams would have a long trek to make it out to Vermont to play those two.

It's certainly not a knock on Plattsburgh. Just saying that I think any good D-III hockey team in their location would do the same every year as well:cool:

Yes location does help but Plattsburgh could very easily play St.Mike's in Burlington, Skidmore, Hamilton, Utica or Hobart with the last 4 being with in 3-4 hour bus ride of Plattsburgh. When RIT and Cansius were DIII teams Plattsburgh would play those teams too. So there is a long history of Plattsburgh Hockey team williness to play the top notch teams in NY and Vermont

Not to detract from your point, because I totally agree, but these were probably bad examples

Plattsburgh DOES schedule an alternating-home OOC game with Skidmore every year, and invited them to the Cardinal Classic this year, too!

Utica will be coming to the Cardinal Classic in 2 the 2011-2012 season.

And as for St. Mike's... well, there has been some recent buzz about a possible end to the annual Elmira game should St. Mike's formally drop to DIII...

The former quote I find amusing because you are bashing a team you have never seen.

The second quote I find amusing because you completely contradict what you said in the first quote. So which is it? Is Oswego good or bad? Your can't have it both ways.

I fear for you because it appears when your brain hit the fork in the road it went straight ahead.

Oh, and we're still waiting for you to go clean up your child's dirty diapers you left on the bleachers in Buffalo State. Stay Class RemDog.

I see you are a simple mind too....It doesn't contradict nothing. Oswego is a good team yes, from what I've seen of them I still think Norwich is better then Oswego. Not once did I say they were a bad team, I said they didn't impress me, and no I am still not worried. Just because you're ranked #1 doesn't mean you are the best team....one of yes, unstopable no. Don't think I ever said Oswego was a middle of the pack team did I...I know you like things put into your mouth, but please stop putting words into mine...stuff it with a donut or something.

And your still waiting for your mom to tuck you into bed...Big mouth not sure why you never come down and say hi....just another computer screen bandit....  Just too bad we know who you really are chump...stop by sometime. I'm sure you have a set big enough for all the smack your run with on here...

You must have really high standards then. If the #1 ranked team in the nation does not impress you the 3 times you have seen them play, what exactly does it take? Perhaps you should move on and follow the NHL?

And why does every conversation have to lead back to food? This obsession with donuts is a tad much, perhaps Oswego can throw them on the ice when they light up your Cardinals in a few weeks.

How badly do they need to beat Platty in order for you to be impressed by the Lakers?

I can't speak for Norwich as I have not seen them play, but I am not sure what they have to do with this conversation. You were arguing apparently with no one that Hamline was not on par with Oswego historically, yet in the very next breath said you were not impressed with the #1 team in the country.

I may be a simple mind but that logic is simply flawed.

No your just that simple...Once again beating someone does not mean you are the best team. Norwich was a hell of a lot better then Oswego.

How hard is it to understand....obviously you are too simple to get it...

Simple works, just looking for an explanation to your "logic".

And there will be no excuses needed. Better get there early though, I hear the first 500 fans get free wallets.
