Jack Parker To Announce Retirement Monday, Really.

Re: Jack Parker To Announce Retirement Monday, Really.

I don't know if there has ever been a figure in HE that has been so spilt in court of public opinion. Wins, scandals, incidents, he's been in the middle of it all. Loved by many, hated by many. Playing BU won't quite be the same anymore. And for the record, I believe Dave Quinn will be the next coach at BU.

Re: Jack Parker To Announce Retirement Monday, Really.

Nate Leaman would be number one choice I'd think--but not sure he's leave PC

Also maybe Keith Allain

If offered Leaman would definitely jump to BU, but there is no way BU would support someone from outside Parker's shadow to take over the program. Its going to be Sullivan or Quinn if they want it, Bavo when they decline.

Re: Jack Parker To Announce Retirement Monday, Really.

If BU goes outside of the current staff for the new coach - then Jack was sacked. If they stay in house, then Jack left on his own terms. I recall that members of the Board of Trustees were p.o.'d when they found out that they had been given and relied upon a sanitized copy of the investigation report. Wait and see.

Probably the stupidest thing ever typed on these boards (which is quite an accomplishment ;) )

Good post. Should have left it at that.

Ask the Baltimore Ravens if they felt Ray Lewis was unfair to the team.

Yea, imagine if they win it all? The players will be so pizzed off at Jack for taking the spotlight and pressure off of them that they'll throw the trophy off the Tobin Bridge. Where's the excitement in winning a trophy now?

I'm going to guess that after 31 years at your own job, you feel YOU DON'T have the right to decide when and where is the RIGHT time to announce your own retirement. In your opinion, how many years does one have to work to earn the right to make their own decision regarding a career ending, life changing announcment? 41? 50? There's gotta be a number, yes?

Ray Lewis has always been my first go to guy in a hockey conversation, if you have to rely on that thug as your example on how to do things right, then the conversation is over.

Didn't you hear? The internal subcommittee information that was obtained by the Globe isn't real. Mookie said so!

Re: Jack Parker To Announce Retirement Monday, Really.

I think he got told he was holding a retirement press conference at the end of this year. Not saying he got told yesterday just that this was already in the works and I doubt he wouldn't have wanted to stay until the end of his contract. If Bavis is the new coach (or Toot Cahoon) then yeah Parker made the call on that one. If its Quinn or Sullivan they seem like obvious choices anyway regardless.

Do they be teachin that there reading comprehension over there at The University of Yale?? Context I say; I say the word is context. Try using it in a sentence. You can't be that dense.

Or perhaps you are rooting for the padlock company?

Agreed.

Interestingly, my theory was they wanted to avoid any implications of wrongdoing by Coach Parker after the Task Force came out with their findings but it seems the narrative on this story this morning is still about his rough past year with rapists running around the program. Darn that media sensationalism! Guess we should have expected this.

Another key bullet point to Jack's legacy was brought up by Mike Eurzione in the Boston Globe this morning. (http://www.boston.com/sports/colleg...down-monday/KhtJVbYOL2UqUoOBI5X8mO/story.html)

Travis Roy. How he handled that situation and the relationship they have to this day.

I heard folks talking about this on the radio... And while admirable without a doubt.. I don't think this is an adequate blanket response to any potential criticism of what went on here the past 18 months.

Of course you should have. It's not like he as worked to get a plan in place (and yes this is me praying it is not bavis!). Not has he given an impression that he knows he is pushing 70 and it may be time to put the reins in the hands of an younger energetic guy who could turn things around. Throw on top of that the embarrassing dismissals (criminal & otherwise) with the cherry on top of talented players bolting mid season.
