Throwing rocks at an officer is not a capital offense. The United States does not make war against children. Based on what we know now, the officer used bad judgement and should be judged accordingly. That said, we should walk a mile in the officer's boots before declaring him a murderer. We're in a time of chosing up sides and this case "fits" into whatever template best describes our attitudes on illegal immigration.

And you somehow know for a fact that the officer paused, steadied his hand, and deliberately fired intentionally at the 14-yo's head? Please.

It's much more likely that he fired in the general direction of several people who were attacking him, and the boy was just the unlucky one. I obviously don't know that for sure, but least I'm willing to wait to see how the FBI's investigation turns out.

The point is that several posters have been positing that...based on our limited knowledge...a 14 yo child is likely more to blame for his own death than the man who fired the gun. I disagree.

Dont worry, we all know you will find some way to argue against that point too. I mean none of us said the cop shouldnt be judged for what he did, we just said the alleged victim is more to blame because it was his stupid and reckless act that started all this. The fact that the kid was an illegal attacking a border cop only really helps our case. It sucks the kid died, it really does, but if you dont want to risk being shot by a cop dont throw rocks at the dude with a gun.

It is like when Palestinian teens get shot by Israeli soldiers after throwing rocks and bottles at them and everyone gets outraged. You are throwing stuff at people who are trained to kill you in the middle of a war zone...what do you think is going to happen?

I am not arguing that they are beyond judgment. There is going to be an investigation and he will be held accountable if it is found he used excessive force. What I am arguing is your moronic belief that your life is not in danger because it is "just a 14 year old" throwing rocks at your head. No offense but this is beyond stupid. If an average 14 old puts enough strength into his throw and hits you squarely in the head with a rock, you could die. Is it likely, probably not, but with head injuries you never know.

Chances of a 14 yo killing a trained and armed US border guard is pretty much zero.

I'd apologize to the officer in shame. If you're throwing rocks at ANYBODY without some form of just cause (self-defense... fear for your life) then you've brought it upon yourself.
