If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Hahahahahahahahaha!!

Is this dude serious?

Yeah, BC is on a nice run. Gophers went on a similar run under Brooks in the 1970's. Only difference is, Brooks didn't have to leave the country (and a few times didn't even leave the state) to do his recruiting. BC's accomplishments pale in comparison.

Sorry pal, we've got the stupidity bit copyrighted.

FYP.

Protip: when your argument is predicated on recruiting practices 40 years ago, you look like a blithering idiot.

Hey, we all have our reasons for being arrogant. **** right I'm provincial. I'm proud of my state's hockey culture and traditions. I don't apologize for them.
Don't think anyone has questioned that. Your main problem seems to be a failure to recognize that expressing that pride doesn't necessarily require you to run down the traditions and culture of other programs, which might be every bit as good, and of which their fans are equally proud.

Which is most important: what's on the front of the jersey or what's on the back? Think long and hard about this.

1974 championship team - All Americans
1976 championship team - All Minnesotans
1979 championship team - All Minnesotans

You "don't care" about this because your team has never been able to do it.

Or, and this is just me thinking outside the box, because it doesn't matter? I mean it obviously matters to you, which isn't saying much. I'll have to go check the NCAA banners hanging across the country to see where the asterix is for using out of state or international players.

Oh, wait. Right.

So, you think Minnesota is incapable of winning a national championship with only Americans today? And I'm dumb?

Hahaha :)

Take a look at that 2002 roster again.

27/27 players American and 26/27 players Minnesotan.

No, it's because you posted this twice.

No, I think an argument based on "but but but we did it in the 70's with just people from Minnesota, so there!" is as asinine an argument as I've ever heard. And yes, you're dumb.

Glad I could clear that up for you. Take a break, champ. Let the adults finish talking.

And if the team I cheered for couldn't do it I would probably be saying "it doesn't matter" too.

Love the personal attacks. Clearly demonstrates you don't have a legit point to make, so you're resorting to using insults to get your point (or lack there of) across.

And again, check out our 2002 roster. All American. All but one Minnesotan. We're still capable of doing it today. Your team has never, and will never, be capable of doing it.

Do you think it's a possibility other teams have no interest in trying to do it, and that's why it doesn't matter to them or their fans?

I don't ever recall hearing Duke basketball fans or coaches expressing a desire to win with only players from North Carolina, or Michigan fans wanting to win with only Michigan football players. In fact, I think Michigan fans get a special kick out of winning with star players from the State of Ohio, and vice versa. And this "americans only" thing is kind of creepy.

And what's really funny is I don't think it even matters to Lucia, the Minnesota players or the U of M as an institution. If it did, they'd have a policy. We only take Minnesota kids, or we only take Americans.

It apparently doesn't really matter to anyone but you.

OK, let me try to spell this out for you, numbnuts. We're talking about RIGHT NOW. BC is undeniably the envy of EVERY college hockey program RIGHT NOW. Over the past 11 years, Minnesota has half the titles BC does. Since your last title, BC has won three titles. So, pull your head out of your ***** *** and try responding to what was actually posted.

Historically, you are correct. Minnesota did have a similar run...although it was three in six years. This was in an era where there wasn't nearly as much parity/competition. If you want to hang your hat on the fact that Herb Brooks didn't need to go outside the state of Minnesota for recruits, well, that would seem to indicate he had an easier job. Are there not more college hockey players from Minnesota than Massachusetts? As for going outside the country, BC had two Canadians in the lineup Saturday night...the horror!!! It's not about where your players are from. It's about what your players are made of as players and as men. Talk about a juvenile view.

There isn't a shred of arrogance in saying BC has been the envy of every program over the past 11 years. No other program even has three titles.

You don't think other teams wish they could win titles with rarely having to leave the state to recruit? I think you're wrong.

And when your team has done something no other team has been able to do (see above), you are going to naturally take pride in that.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

well, well, what do we have here? BC and Minny fans acting like childish *****hats? color me shocked...

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

jjubbs, so would you rather lose with a team full of minnesota kids or win with some international kids sprinkled in?

win

To be the "envy" of other schools/fans, we would have to want to be like you. I think I adequately explained why we don't want to be like you. Again, your on a nice run. Congrats. Sincerely. It ends with that though.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

So you wouldn't want your program run by Jerry York instead of Don Lucia? And you wouldn't trade your zero titles since '03 for BCs three?
