If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

In the 91+ year history of the Gophers there have been THREE Wisconsinites and THREE North Dakotans to be privlidged enough to wear the Maroon "M". How many Minnesotans have played for the lesser programs to Minnesota's East and West?

That is so cool. Add to that the fact that nearly all were white christians of western European descent, and it's as close to perfect as you're going to get in this mongrel world.

What the eff does players leaving 5 years ago have to do with beating BC in 2012?

I actually think most fans would agree the Gophers lost some players and it hurt but I sure as hell wouldn't thump my chest about it. If anything losing all those players is a black-eye not a badge of honor within the context of insisting the Gopheres are the be all end all of college hockey. It's a great program and I will support it until I am gone, but it's the not the center of the universe dude. Let it go.

So BC fans, consider me your priest. Let me enlighten you on God's gift to the hockey world, the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Come out and visit the Mecca and you will be forever changed spiritually.

In all seriousness. You should really come out and visit us when your team plays here next winter. I know I'll be visiting you when the Gophers head East to play you in a few years :)

So, because you haven't heard of them, that means they aren't quality players, ha? Too funny. And if you don't think losing 20 recruits early, 15 before their junior year, and 9 after one year can have a devestating cumulative effect on a program, then that's even more hilarious.

And those are just the players I counted doing a quick skim of the rosters. I may have missed some.

But again, you're clearly here to make personal attacks, and not talk hockey, so I'll excuse your ignorance :)
As a fan of none of these teams, I think Denver and UND have been affected as much as Minnesota, if not more by impact players leaving early. Wisconsin to a lesser extent.

If the BCPD caught wind of your posts on USCHO you may have to look at Conte Forum/Kelley Rink from the outside.

Gophers have been a perpetually young team for 5+ years now. I was trying to explain the difference between what BC loses (upper classmen) and what the Gophers had been losing. There is a reason why the Gophers were such a young team this year. And that had an impact.

If the Gophers bring back all their underclassmen (will be only one senior), they will keep 80% of scoring, lose no one on defense, and should be a force this year. Steve doesn't get that his team was older than ours and primed to win this season while our team is primed to win next season.

good teams reload. bad teams rebuild, make excuses, and say wait til next year.

Steve doesn't (and shouldn't) care. BC won the whole thing within the confines of the rules and imho they should be **** proud of their accomplishment. Case closed.

Alexander Portnoy/baseball glove = JDubbs/Gopher program

again, you run loose with the facts. don't confuse better with older

M vs BC
seniors: 3 vs 4
juniors: 2 vs 6
soph 8 vs 3
frosh 5 vs 5

so the difference is that minn's d has 4 sophs where as bc's d has 3 juniors (juniors who won an NC 2 years ago starting 4 frosh & 1 soph, btw). shouldnt be a very big difference for a team with such superior talent.

fun fact: your top line was -8 and rau didnt register a shot on goal

Take a look at where your scoring came from, and where ours came from.

no one cares.

Clearly Steve does. And considering you took the time to tell me you don't, clearly you "care" on some level too.

Shall I remind you that no one really "cares" to hear your non-stop pessimism during the season (and I'm pretty sure most people would rather do without). Or, should we both just acknowledge that we don't care for each other's posts and ignore each other like civil adults. I choose the latter.

another math lesson for you. 100% of your scoring came from seniors; only 33% for BC.

choke.

LOL!!!!

So, you're going to cherry pick one game for your sample size? And I need the math lessons?? Classic!!

Let me rephrase for you. Where did your scoring come from this season (in its entirety)? Break it down by class.

Then, where did our scoring come from this season (in its entirety)? Break it down by class.

What you'll find is, the vast majority of our scoring came from inexperienced underclassman (our leading goal scorer is still only 19). Much more of your scoring came from upperclassman.

Let me know if you need an explanation as to why that's significant. I'm holding my breathe that you can figure it out all by your lonesome :)
