If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

For those that aren't JDUBBS. Why is making excuses making Minnesota look better? I know JDUBBS can't be making Minnesota look bad, so why is he supposedly making them look better?

As for this scoring debate. Who cares? BC won, Minnesota lost. That's all anyone will ever remember or care about.

LOL!!!!

So, you're going to cherry pick one game for your sample size? And I need the math lessons?? Classic!!

Let me rephrase for you. Where did your scoring come from this season (in its entirety)? Break it down by class.

Then, where did our scoring come from last season (in its entirety)? Break it down by class.

What you'll find is, the vast majority of our scoring came from inexperienced underclassman (our leading goal scorer is still only 19). Much more of your scoring came from upperclassman.

Let me know if you need an explanation as to why that's significant. I'm holding my breathe that you can figure it out all by your lonesome :)

Your program can't hold onto players. They so badly want to leave that they do so mid-season (Okposo). I don't know, maybe start targeting different players, outside of Minnesota. Unlike you, it appears as though by the way you describe them leaving in droves that they can't wait to leave the state of hockey.

Oh wait, i forgot about Haula, Vanek, the Potulnys, Kessel... didn't most of that group leave early too? Maybe it's your coach. Maybe it's you hovering around them when they go to class, who knows.

See, that doesn't sound good to me.

Who's making excuses for the loss? BC was the better team. The argument is that BC won't be the better team next season if Minnesota returns everyone who didn't graduate.

Gophers have made adjustments in recruiting. We'll see if it pays off.

And that's relevant to what exactly?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Dingus, you really listed those guys? Seriously? Dorr, Borgen, Fisher, Hagemo, Lofquist and Birkholz all left bc they either weren't getting playing time or had disciplinary problems. Frazee left for medical reasons (he started suffering from Sieveitis one game against No Dak and it flared up REAL bad one night in St. Cloud).

Ask Steve, it was his assertion that the opposite will be true. Again, if you don't care, that's fine. But I thought it was interesting enough to discuss.

BC's "we reload" belief vs Minnesota's resurgance and maturation.

They won the title. Sounds like his prerogative to say that. Minnesota fans used to say that often. Now we've apparently lost that as well.

Their departures made it necessary to accelerate other guys, which had a cumulative effect. So yes, it mattered.

No one is saying he can't say that. I disagree, which brings us to the current discussion. I think I am absolutely entitled to disagree, and to discuss why here.

Gophers win a championship if Birkholz and Lofquist stay... Go it

Who knows how they would have developed. It is, however, impossible to deny that had they stayed longer, not having to rush other players in would have certainly been better for their development.

None of this is relevant anymore. It's become the great circular logic train. All Aboard!

I do have to give Dubbs credit because he hasn't really fallen into the gutter of the personal attacks he is absorbing. That is something to be proud of in my book. minor stuff here and there but nothing like has been directed at him.

i picked the one game that was relevant to the discussion of minnesota envying bc. the rest of your games in the defense optional wcha are not important to me. we could talk about 2008 if that game proves your point better. you scored two goals!

so you have crappy upperclassmen that cant score from a class that hasnt had any early departures. whose fault is that?

And the same two teams will take the ice next season? One game is a poor sample size and less valuable as a guage of returning talent.

The recruiting issues the Gophers have dealt with the past 5+ years are the fault of the coaching staff. Adjustments have been made, Lucia is healthy again, and Mike Guentzel is back (and Hill is gone). We'll see if all this changes the direction of the program as time will tell, but this year was a great sign. Lots of young talent returning.

Oh, and this year's senior class did have early departures.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Which will be higher? Dubbs excuses for the Gophers losing or Twins losses this year?
