If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Minnesota lost 20 players before their junior year in any one stretch? Do they have 80 kids on the roster or are you counting Okposo 17 times?

Be honest, you think of Okposo when you delight yourself in the shower, don't ya.

Yes, 20 players before their junior year in a 3-year period. And no, Okposo was only counted once.

My Gosh, didn't those traitors know how much pride their was to play for the only team in the nation that mattered? They must have been all Canadians or kids from Milwaukee. Certainly no Minnesota native would ever do such a thing if for no reason his future NHL team would have so much envy for the UMTC squad.

Hey, since youre the expert, can you list those 20 kids who left in that 3 year period before their junior year. You only get to list a player one time. The floor is yours:

Haha... All-time best? Hardly. He was a very good player, but not top 50.

I think RPot would crack into the top 50. GPot was great and an amazing leader (kind of like Matson now) but didn't have the same skills as little bro. We all remember GPot for one reason, and maybe a few other smaller ones but only one really stands out.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

In the 91+ year history of the Gophers there have been THREE Wisconsinites and THREE North Dakotans to be privlidged enough to wear the Maroon "M".

Now...I don't want you to go blow your head off or something, but there have been far more than three North Dakotans that have played for Minnesota. Doing just a cursory look through the Gopher program guide I count 10...

Ray Wallace
Jim MacKay
Charles Norby
Richard Nelson
William Bidon
James Gambucci
David Lamb
Grant Potulny
Ryan Potulny
Danny Irmen

Of course...you probably just think I'm lying :p:D:D

Mace Ebert

That completes the NoDak list for a total of 12.

Edit: He may be technically right about players leaving early. I'm not going to waste my time counting them all but got up to 9 in just the last 3-4 years. Granted not all went to the pros but there were at least that many who left the team for various reasons.

I believe Lefty Curran also attended Minnesota for a short time before transferring to North Dakota. I don't know if he ever played (for what would probably have amounted to the Gopher Freshman team at the time) though.

Not listed so I would say no.

Interesting pointless fact, the 1929 national championship team's goalie was from Wales, UK.

Bunch of Brits getting voted co-champions with Yale. I bet Yale didn't have any **** Brits on their team...using JDubbs theory of greatness, Yale should have been the outright champion. :p:D:D

Baloney.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Ok... Not QUITE as bad as I thought, but still pretty bad.

The following players left before their Sophmore Year between 2006-2010:

Stu Bickel, Josh Birkholz, Michael Dorr, Erik Johnson, Phil Kessel, Nick Leddy, James O'Brien, Kyle Okposo, Grant Scott.

The following players left before their Junior Year during the same time period:

Brent Borgen, Kris Chucko, Drew Fisher, Nate Hagemo, Sam Lofauist, and Jordan Schroeder.

The following players left before their Senior Year during the game timeframe:

Danny Irmen, Ryan Potulny, Jeff Frazee, Alex Goligoski, and Blake Wheeler.

So, between 2006-2010, 20 players left early. 15 of them left before their Junior Year and 9 of those left after only 1 year.

Thanks bud. Trying to figure out how to put a certain someone on ignore. I figure life will be much more pleasant.

Click on Settings in the Upper Right Hand Corner.

When you get to the next screen, under "My Account" on the left hand side there is an "Edit Ignore List" option. Click that.

It will bring up a screen where you can enter a User Id that you would like to ignore. Enter the User Id then click "okay".

That should do it. :)

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

so not, not 20 before their junior year. and not even close to 3 years. and my bad, i thought we were talking about good players....

Josh Birkholz

really?

Michael Dorr

who?

Grant Scott

the?

Brent Borgen

hell?

Drew Fisher

are?

Sam Lofauist

they?

oh you had to add in some juniors to even make the number half of what you claimed it to be....

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

You call losing Juniors and Seniors a problem?? Really???

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

who would envy a program that can't overcome the loss of a few juniors?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

So, because you haven't heard of them, that means they aren't quality players, ha? Too funny. And if you don't think losing 20 recruits early, 15 before their junior year, and 9 after one year can have a devestating cumulative effect on a program, then that's even more hilarious.

And those are just the players I counted doing a quick skim of the rosters. I may have missed some.

But again, you're clearly here to make personal attacks, and not talk hockey, so I'll excuse your ignorance :)
