Hockey East Quarterfinals: #6 UNH @ #3 BU

Re: Hockey East Quarterfinals: #6 UNH @ #3 BU

No, they lost as well. The only team that won was Women's hockey, which, by the way, was a great game.

Fun fact...BU's record at home: 8 -7
BU's record on the road/neutral: 13-5-1

Usually spring break as well (can someone confirm that?). Not much enthusiasm in the arena this year. If it IS an advantage, it's not much of one. Although I'm HOPING that because there is a, how shall I say this, "higher profile" opponent and because they will probably bring a LOT of fans, it will spur the BU fans on to greater heights (like maybe they will actually yell and/or cheer - not that I want to ask too much of them...

But he just said, don't change the word to "expectations."

I don't think anybody said that...this is a FAN forum and we're talking about OUR perspective on the series...if the PLAYERS "expect" to lose, they shouldn't be playing...

Of LATE????????????

Wrong...NBC Friday Night Ice (or whatever they call it now) is featuring BC/UMass on their Friday telecast, which will be at 7:30. BU is on Saturday at 4:00 on NESN. Lowell starts Thursday night due to a scheduling conflict at Tsongas.

Correct, except that Saturday's game is at 4:00 p.m. because of the NESN telecast...

the multi-quote button is your friend! ;)

But sure, I agree with your last sentence fragment, as indicated by my original comment. May the team that plays better win, and may the games provide extraordinary entertainment value (and I truly mean that in a non-snarky way.) It is an excellent match-up, and as much as I dreaded this possible series, I now embrace it. Over and out.

But you're assuming I thought of all these replies at once! It's more like because I get to work at 6:00 that there are no other replies to get sandwiched in between mine yet!! :)

Agreed...I personally think it will be an excellent series. It's more fun for me because my sister is a big UNH fan. And no offense to any of you fans of the more johnny come lately schools to join Hockey East, but I'm more of a traditionalist. I love series between the "original" teams. That's why the Bruins/Rangers game yesterday was so intriguing...I go WAY back (but we won't discuss age...) :D

:D

it's all good! I think after this weekend, UNH will have played all of the other hockey east teams in the quarters since 1997...

Re: Hockey East Quarterfinals: #6 UNH @ #3 BU

by the way, thanks for losing to Northeastern and ruining any shot I had at watching a game this weekend (UNH would have been at UML Thursday, Friday and maybe Sunday, if BU had gotten one measly point on Saturday), thanks Jerks ;)

We're good at that! :D You never know which team is going to show up..that's why this series is so intriguing!

But...all of the games are being streamed live on http://www.hockeyeastonline.tv. It's $8.95 per individual game and $39.95 for a tournament "pass," which includes 10 of the 12 games (the two TV games, NBC's Friday Night Ice [BC/UMass] and Saturday's BU/UNH NESN game are excluded). Supposedly you can stream four games at a time in the same browser window (I hope you have good bandwidth!), but I've never done it so I have no idea how good the quality is.

I will be working during all (possibly) 3 games, about 2 miles from Agganis.... Dam n you Terriers! :D

Will UNH bring their band for this one? Curious because I know that BU has brought theirs on the road before for HEA quarters (I believe the last time was AT BC in the 03-04 season... fun series).

So it is on NESN at 4pm?

As a guy that once got the Hooters in San Juan to put on the NCAA hockey finals while I waited for my ride to the airport, I relish the challenge of finding a place in suburban VA (soccer tournament) that will play the game during bball conference tournament time.

At least 10 times over the years I've been sitting there when this dialog happens at a sports bar:

"hey, bartender, can you change this TV from this stupid hockey game to the blank vs. blank bball game?"

"sorry, we had a guy request (meaning a big tip in advance) to watch the hockey game"

"what? somebody requested to watch this? where is that moron?"

"The guy sitting at the bar next to you"

"hey, Pete, they won't put it on the tv because of this guy sitting right here!"

Our schedule may allow me to watch at least some of the game.

What is the protocol for a third game sunday? any chance it would be on NESN?

Yes...I just got the schedule from the website http://www.hockeyeastonline.com

Not sure about a Sunday game...I don't recall it ever being on NESN, but I usually am at the game so I don't know. All of the games are being streamed, if you are someplace where you can get to a computer (I think you can even watch it on your cell phone with the mobile app).

You MAY have a better chance in Virginia than Puerto Rico!! :D

When BU played a third game at Providence, both in 1999 and in 2001, the games were televised on Sunday night on NESN. 1999 was a blowout, 2001 was a double OT thriller. Both Providence wins.

Well done. And yes, this has happened to me too.

Re: Hockey East Quarterfinals: #6 UNH @ #3 BU

Hoping this goes 3 for a nice Sunday evening spent at Agganis and the chance that UNH stays a TUC

Sorry...not me!

a) I'm getting to the age where a heart attack is possible and I don't feel like getting one, thank you very much...and

b) ANYTHING can happen in a deciding game and it's not worth it just for the PWR sake. UNH remaining a team under consideration won't mean much if we lose the series...

Re: Hockey East Quarterfinals: #6 UNH @ #3 BU

just win, baby. every team still playing hockey controls their own destiny from this point on. just win.

Re: Hockey East Quarterfinals: #6 UNH @ #3 BU

Really good move by Lowell to keep all the dorms open even with spring break started. I know it costs money and all the things that go with it, but I think more schools should look at doing this (not sure if other's do, to be fair).
All Residence Halls on-campus will remain open throughout the series, closing on Monday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. (if necessary). If the series ends on Friday, the residence hall will close at noon on Saturday, March 10.
