First, I do love the fact that you are a "neutral fan of this series" -- it points out that there are a lot of fans of the Game of College Hockey, not just fans of their own teams.
That said, the way that these playoff rounds are set up, the top 4 teams earn the right to play the bottom 4 teams, on their own home ice, with seeding preference given to the #1 team and on down. The system thus favors the home team, the higher seed. Wouldn't you agree that there is usually a greater expectation for those teams to win 2 out of 3 games? I would -- and if the venue isn't reason enough, then the fact that the higher seed has the better record over 27 games should be.
Regarding pressure, I merely stated that (in my opinion,) UNH has no pressure on them, unlike the past 15 years, when we had home ice. BU has the pressure. And if the situation were reversed -- that is to say, UNH hosted BU, I would state that the pressure were greater on UNH. Hey, that's just me and my opinion. Disagree if you'd like, that's fine.
I said nothing at all about the fact that BU has lost 3 players this season, 2 of whom are in the maw of the judicial system. (I figured a BU fan, and I understand that you are not one, would bring it up in a "woe is me" fashion.) I would think that the team would want to prove that they can win even despite the shame and loss of key players, which again places pressure on them.
