Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

the big thing is now after reading we seem to be the only school that MAKES season ticket holders pony up the money for games that may not even happen!!! why that is?!?!

I'm going to guess that they're comfortable enough in the program to assume home ice and willing to risk credits on next years tickets to at least guarantee a half full to 3/4 full building. I seem to remember these games being optional 4-5 years ago. Didn't work out too well as many season ticket holders opted not to buy them.

At UNH, when you buy season tickets, you have the option to buy Quarterfinals tickets, but if you chose to buy them, you have to buy all three.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Are you kidding me? The Agganis Arena has been 1/4th full these past two games. Like BU fans have any right to make jokes about the Garden being half full if Merrimack makes it. Oh wow, its spring break so thats an excuse to totally ignore your team. Give me a break. Just goes to show you how much these students actually support their teams. "Yea, we love our team, but if its spring break we'd rather be sitting at home having our mommies make us home dinners."

Boy, you really missed the boat on the whole spring break thing in college, didn't you?

Yea, you are right. I forgot all about Spring Break. So the next time I see a stupid post about "facilities" or "attendance", Im going think, attendance and facilities is only good if the games are being played outside of spring break. Because if they are being played during spring break no one gives a crap about the team or the games, because they are too focused on getting hammered and getting laid, than to think about being a fan of the team.

I have no problems with this. Anyone else?

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Just give it up. MC offered $1 tickets for the PC game because they knew attendance wouldn't be good. It was one of worst student turnouts of the year because of spring break. The program had the chance to make playoffs for first time in 6 years. Go Warriors!

1. The word facilities (why the hell did you put that in quotes?) has not appeared in this discussion.

2. The BU/Mack game outdrew two of the other QFs in Hockey East tonight, you still seem to not understand what happens to all attendance during QFs.

3. It's not entirely an issue of how much people care, you still don't seem to understand that THE DORMS CLOSE DURING BREAKS AND PEOPLE GO HOME BECAUSE THEY CAN'T SLEEP ON CAMPUS.

4. You also have a misconception about the level of fanaticism most sports fans exhibit. Yes, Hockey East schools have a lot of hockey fans, but they're not all USCHO posters. Heaven forbid any of the college students in New England should put the rest of their lives in front of supporting their hockey teams. Not everybody is like those of us who post on this board, and there's nothing wrong with that.

5. I'm kind of confused... do students go home for their mothers and the cooking or to get hammered and laid? Can you not get hammered and laid on the Merrimack campus?

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

BU's attendance tonight was probably higher than can fit in Merrimack's high school rink. Don't act like your arena sells out when you play BU and BC because it's not half filled with their fans. BU isn't a commuter school where most of the students live 15 minutes away from campus and/or don't live on campus to begin with, so chances are the ones who do "go home to have dinner made to them by mommy" aren't a short drive away from school. And don't act like a BC-BU game at the Garden wouldn't draw more fans than Lowell-Merrimack or even BC-Merrimack. I'm not even sure that would sell out the Tsongas. But hey, at least you show that Merrimack has at least one fan(boy). They're making progress over there in North Andover. I wasn't even aware Merrimack had a student section when I was there in November.

Man, I can't believe I just stuck up for BU. I must need sleep.

Ask around, I stick up for BC posters plenty when they're right... I always thought one of the best part of the BU/BC rivalry is that no matter which one of us is better (BU clearly...) we're both better than everybody else :D .

Ah, very true. Yeah, I have a brother that goes to BU, so I DO have to stick up for BU people every once in a while. While me and him can't agree on what's the best hockey school, we both agree that we do go to the best hockey schools. :) Plus we'll make fun of other Hockey East schools and their fans when we feel like being nice to each other.

go to bed

what bcfan said is true - i was also unaware that Merrimack had a student section the day of the BC @ MC game earlier this year. I did notice the lack of a working scoreboard, the overwhelming majority of fans wearing maroon and gold, and the general plainness of the place, but I did not notice a student section.

Anyways, go Mack tomorrow! Yay!

Not gonna lie -- the "sitting at home having mommy make you home-cooked dinners" is a pretty accurate description of my spring break. Also home-cooked desserts. I have no regrets. My wasteline does, but I don't.

Dude, just stop. Let me be the dozenth person to explain this to you -- not everyone who goes to BU lives near Boston. Unlike Merrimack, BU students come from all over the country and all over the world. I have way more friends at BU from outside New England than from inside New England. Therefore, when it's spring break and the dorms are closed, there aren't a lot of students around. Anything else I can clarify for you?

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

But remember, Federal League - 392% of Merrimack's student body attended their home game against BU. BU just can't compete with those numbers.

They were very evident when we were there. The place was packed. I was shocked. Had to squeeze in to find a seat:eek:
