Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Yes... let me help you, since I guess they don't teach math at Merrimack.

Friday: 3508
Saturday: 3905

Agganis: 6221

Friday: 56%
Saturday: 63%

So yes, you are objectively wrong that Agganis has been 1/4 full. You should also realize both of those crowds have been larger than capacity at Lawler and the games have also been more expensive than any game at Merrimack.

HAHHAHAHA...this guys comeback is that the Agganis wasnt 1/4th full, but rather only a half full. Omg I am dying of laughter here. Im sorry, I was wrong. lol.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Don't go to many road games, do you?

Another post that makes no sense. What does that mean? If I go to road games I would know that most BU students dont live more than an hour and a half away from the Agganis? Please clarify. Your posts may seem witty and funny to you but make no sense to others.

Pretty simple, actually. If you'd been to places like the Alfond and the Gutt, you'd know that there are plenty of parts of New England that are well more than 60-90 minutes from BU.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

It is Spring Break. The dorms are closed. There may be even fewer there tomorrow night. For those who are experiencing this quarter final playoff thing for the first time, this weekend has always proven to be a problem from an attendance standpoint. The fact is BU students will fill at least 3 balcony sections next weekend at the Garden, as usual. Of course, getting there is another story.

Talk about grasping for straws. Yea, im sure there a places in New England that are more than 90 minutes away from Agganis. The only thing is that NOBODY LIVES THERE!!!! Im sure that most BU students live in northern Vermont, or northern Maine. Give me a break. Just admit the fact that BU fans thought, "hey its Merrimack, we can just relax at home on spring break and not have to go to games and support our teams. Yea, this might make us look like an apathetic fan base, but who cares. UNH and BC fans will fill the Garden next week end and make up for our lazyness."

i'm pretty sure that youre the one grasping for straws. the fact is that most BU students are not just from new england. they actually have a tendency to attract students from all over the country, and the world for that matter. the dorms are not open and hotels are expensive. stop trying to make this about BU fans being apathetic and overlooking merrimack.

They are overlooking Merrimack. You think if BC was in town for the weekend that 1/2 of the arena would be empty?

You stated that Agganis was 1/4 full and used that as your basis for the argument that somehow the garden would be as full with Merrimack in the Semis than BU. I noted that not only was it 1/2 full rather than 1/4 full (that's 1555 people there) but it had also sold more tickets both nights that Lawler ever has. So ever with all this spring break stuff, even if you completely disregard the circumstances of the game, BU would still bring more people than Merrimack. Want to see more evidence of the spring break / HE quarterfinals effect? Look at the attendance of every other quarterfinal there was today! We understand this is new to you since it's probably the first time you've seen your team play in a quarterfinal, but please, try to keep up.

If you really think there's any chance that Merrimack would make the Garden more full than BU next weekend you either have only ever gone to games at Lawler, have only been a Hockey East fan for about a week, or you've quickly entered the running for dumbest person on this forum.

It made perfect sense. His posts are witty and funny, they just don't make sense if you're a complete moron.

The last BU/BC quarterfinal series a few years ago averaged about 4k
next?

Exactly:

BC 2004 Quarterfinals attendance hosting BU (BC as the No. 1 seed)
3/11/2004: 3250
3/12/2004: 4706
3/13/2004: 4329

Some people are unintelligent, some people just lack specific knowledge... it's the combination of the two that makes you so very special.

Dude. Spring break. Kids go AWAY. To Florida. Or Mexico. Or home to New York, New Jersey, California, Texas, etc. That means they are NOT IN BOSTON. Which means they are not able to go to the game. Do Merrimack students not grasp the concept of what spring break is or do you just go home a half hour away from your North Andover campus?

yes i do. the dorms would still be closed. students would still be hours away without anywhere to spend the night. if you want to say that the team is overlooking merrimack, go for it. but youre statement about bu fans overlooking merrimack is ridiculous. THEY DONT HAVE ANYWHERE TO SLEEP.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Warrior51,
Stop making all MC fans look bad. There are plenty of Merrimack fans who are objective and rational. MC's enrollment is minuscule compared to BU. It is great that the Volpe had some of the best crowds in over a decade this year and it wasn't all road fans.

These first round series have always had trouble drawing because of spring break even at Maine and UNH.

However, let's be realistic. BU, BC, UNH, Maine and UVM will always bring the best crowds to the Garden. I hope to see Merrimack at the Garden next weekend, but if not, I'll be there anyways and will see three great hockey games. College sports is so special.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Anyone have the attendance stat for the 1998 semis? That's the last time I remember MC making it to the Fleet (the only time?)

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

the big thing is now after reading we seem to be the only school that MAKES season ticket holders pony up the money for games that may not even happen!!! why that is?!?!
