Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

I agree that my knowledge is limited but feel confident that it is above that of a village idiot, aka YOU

What are you basing your PC prediction on? By all accounts, the entire program is in shambles. Army's comments about the departed Cody Wild pretty much sum up what's happening down in Friartown.

Good question...

I feel that their goaltending and D is solid and that the younger forwards are ready to step up. The freshmen and sophmores were the top lines the previous 2 years and they are now upper classman. They also seem to be now going after older Canadian kids vs local younger kids. They added 2- 21 year old freshmen to the team this year, which they had not done over the past several years. Both are from Canada and had very good results in juniors, both being MVP's of their league. With their usual effort/energy they might start converting the one goal losses or ties and kick upa little dust. You win from the goal out and Beaudry seems to be top 2 or 3 at worst in the league.

They easily could have had 4 or 5 more wins last season. You never know. worst case I would say NU, UML, UMA and PC area coin flip and PC has Beaudry etc.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

1) BC by 10 points or more
2) Maine solid second
3) BU close with MC for third
4) Merimack close with BU for third
5) Providence Beaudry will win a lot of very close games and PC lost next to nothing in scoring power
6) UNH solid up front but loss of Foster will hurt terribly with lots of high scoring games
7) Northeastern never should have missed playoffs last year, youth will improve
8) Vermont lost too much scoring power to move up
9) Lowell lost both scoring and excellent goaltending
10) UMass devastated by losses of seniors and defections even more than Lowell
Like jcarter I am sticking with my predictions from early in the thread. It kind of scares me though that Hokydad and I agree somewhat on PC this year.

I dont think BC wins by 10 points. They are loaded without a doubt, but they always seem to tinker throughout the regular season with stuff and will lose *** games thoughout the season.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

1. BC
2. Maine
3. BU
4. UNH
5. UVM
6. Northeastern
7. Merrimack
8. PC
9. UMass
10. UML

I think spots 4-7 will likely be decided on the last weekend, and UML and UMass will likely be mathematically eliminated pretty quickly from a playoff berth (like at the same point PC was this year)

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

To the people saying "PC lost nothing," don't forget that PC has next to nothing to begin with.

A very good point.

I have always maintained that these lesser programs need to grab the 21-year old freshmen in bunches to compete with the elite 17- and 18-year old kids that BC, Denver, etc bring in. If that is the new PC way of doing things, I like their chances at being at least a bit better than this recent downswing.

What did Army say about Cody Wild?

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

That wouldnt take much. Daylight does that normally to you

stuck in a closet in rosindale and always full of great insight and information

I didn't realize you lived in Rosindale? And I thought you house arrest ankle bracelet only confined you to your parents house? Do they lock you up in the closet???

Thats a stupid post. Beaudry was one of the top goalies, if not the top goalie in Hockey East.
Their top 6 scoring F's are all back and a year older.
Velischek is a year older and seasoned. Coming directly out of high school hockey was very tough. Look at Bc or BU's young D, all exceptional but zero directly from high school.
MacKinnon and Bergland had pretty much the same number of points as Kreider, S Whitney, Matt Price and Lombardi, without the benefit of their superstar linemates.

Clealry not bringing back the depth and talent of BC or a Nyquist but to say they started with almost nothing is wrong

sticking with my previous prediction
1.bc
2.maine
3.unh
4.mc
5.bu
6.uvm

??? Do we need to go back through the 10 pages discussing Muse-Milner-Hutton-Hamilton? Interestingly Beaudry's name came up exactly never...

But, it now becomes clear why you have PC so high, afterall they are coming back with the top goalie in HE. And they return their top 6 scorers....who cares if none of them managed double digits, they are the top 6 !!!

I've said on here before that Beaudry was the best goalie I saw last season, so no need to point him out to me.

Last year, PC scored 25 fewer goals than any other HE team and 45 fewer than any other HE team not named Northeastern. They return two 20-point scorers and seven 10-point scorers. Even with all that Lowell lost, they also return two 20-point scorers (including one 30-pointer) and seven 10-point scorers. Northeastern, who is also in that bottom 4 by most accounts, returns three 20-point scorers and six 10-point scorers plus Quailer, who would've almost certainly been in that group if not for the knee injury.

Then if you get into that 5-6 range of UVM and MC... UVM returns just one 20-pointer but nine 10-pointers plus most of their D and their goalie and MC returns three 20s (including a 40 and a 30) and nine 10s.

I'm not saying PC's a lock for 10th (in fact, I definitely won't have them 10th), but to pick them any higher than 7th or 8th is a bit of a stretch IMO.

Only you would think Beadry was not one of the top 2 or 3 in the league.
All 6 were double digit+ and Bergland and McKinnon had as many as Kreider, S Whitney, Carey, Lombardi, Price with no where near the surrounding cast.

You stick to pretending you and another poster are doing a bet where the loser wears a costume to a game. Only you were to thick to realize he had no intention of ever doing it.

You couldnt have said that, JCarter said no one though he was any good.

You have very valid points and it is a flip of a coin, I hope it comes up in their favor. A strong PC program is very good for Hockey East.
