Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

What did Jcarter take time off from managing his fantasy league baseball team? He just makes crap up and has zero info or background to give an opinion on any player. I knew the first time I saw Da Costa play that he was exceptional and was the first one to state it here.

Make stuff, you mean like the number of ppg in the first part of the season v. the second half?? that zero info??

You knew the first time you saw him huh? Was that in France or after his 5g against Army? Of did you call Ms. Cleo's psychic hotline?

I don't know that you can really have a flamefest with hokydad...it requires some degree of dialogue that I just don't know he is capable of.

As far as I can tell he only knows how to leave rep calling me a fool and talking about every skater that has ever stepped onto the ice like they are his own kid.

@ Hokydad, how do you find so much time to scout these guys, interact with coaches, family, friends and classmates? Do you have a job or do you wonder from dorm to dorm and sleep at the rinks? Your knowledge of all things hockey is simply amazing...

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Hokydad, you really never do get tired of blowing yourself...err own horn.

Not to mention you call out jcarter for making stuff up...pot, kettle. Here is a link to the 2009-2010 Merrimack thread:

Click

One of the first posts is about how good of a season MC has had so far...where is a post from you prior to the season stating how good Da Costa would be?

clearly that thread was started after people talked about him, please can you read?

This is the post I was talking about. The first mention of him on this board is this one.

Compared to you, my 4 year old niece is a hockey guru.

At least I know I write stuff that comes off as stupid and arrogant but I dont care. I throw out bullets and could care less about delivery. You dont realize how stupid you sound.

I hate to, but I really have to ask... why do you do it then? Why not come off as smart and congenial? You could still get the same point across, but not come off looking like a serial stalker, creep, or just all around *******s?

He almost certainly won't address this.

Wait...it was? Didn't I point that out myself? I was looking for a specific post by you like below...

Thank you. Full marks to you especially considering you said this prior to his five goal outburst.

At least I know I write stuff that comes off as stupid and arrogant

This is gold.

It's kind of like watching two drunks going at each other in the parking lot after the bar closes. No one really cares, but everyone loves to watch and laugh.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Providence will get home ice.

I'm just going to throw that at the wall and see if it sticks... if they do I win the entire season.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

And as one of the MC fans noted, Da Costa likely played a Sh1t ton more then Atkinson especially. More TOI leads to more opportunity to score...

True, but playing with Gibbons and J. Whitney also leads to more opportunities to score. Personally, I think it is really hard to judge who is better between Da Costa and Atkinson.

Both are obviously elite players, but I don't know if Atkinson would have put up the numbers Da Costa did last year if CA had played on a line with Barton and Velleca at Merrimack.

IMO, it is unclear who is the best player in HE but I think that Da Costa is clearly the most valuable. Atkinson is the best player on an all-star team while Da Costa single-handedly took his team to the HE playoffs in 09-10.

No doubt Da Costa (45 pts) was a big reason why we made the playoffs, but it's hard to miss Chris Barton's 38 point campaign. Other role players pitched in too, but Da Costa and Barton acted as each other's foil. Barton came to play on the rare nights Da Costa was off and I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the team in goals again in 10-11.

Come on now. I can see the Nyquist vs. Atkinson debate. Obviously.

But putting trying to put Da Costa on the same level as Atkinson (or even Nyquist) is just total buffoonery. No offense. But let's get real here. Did you watch the Frozen Four at all? This kid pretty much made it happen all by himself on all of his goals. Let's make it real clear right now he does not need Gibbons and Whitney on his line to pump in goals. He's a sniper and a speedster that snipes on the PP and gets a lot of goals by taking the puck wide and turning on the jets and he supplements that with some loose puck bang-ins (like just about every forward does).

Re-reading my post and then yours, I agree with a lot of what you said. Atkinson is a better player. I kinda got carried away as the main point I was trying to make was that I find it hard to judge exactly how good the two players are.

Part of that, is not being able to watch Da Costa very often. I saw him the 3 times he played NU and twice on TV while I probably saw BC and Atkinson play 15 times last year.

That would probably apply for Da Costa but I think Atkinson's playoff performances when the games got bigger and the opponents got better shouldn't make it difficult for anyone to judge how good Atkinson is. Heck, what he did in the postseason is something that even Nyquist doesn't have on the resume right now (some food for thought, especially given the mediocrity of the league last year). While Nyquist didn't have the opportunity for doing damage in the NCAAs, Atkinson did and made the most of it.
