Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Eat, drink, smoke dope, and listen to phish.

It's like sex, drugs, and rock n roll without the rock n roll.

Not everyone in VT smokes dope just like not every resident in your great state is a M*******.

And isn't phish considered rock and roll? I have to admit I've never listened to them.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

The Vermont legislature is mostly composed of leftist progressives who would rather put in a communal garden than a hockey rink.

They rarely consider using bonding to raise funds as bonding supports the evil financial wizards on wall street who are to blame for all the worlds problems

Jcarter - I appreciate that you contribute to the VC in order to get the tickets. I suggest you up the ante and get the VIP parking also, it's kind of nice to be able to arrive at the last moment before they drop the puck and still get a parking spot.

I do think the arena will happen but it's going to be more like $100 million to get it done and I think it will be five to seven years. About the time I retire to a lower tax jurisdiction for at least 181 days a year. I will be back for the good home game weekends though.

Ben & Jerry's went public and then of course lost control and were purchased by Unilever who still own it. Ben & Jerry are two of the leftist leaders of the commune.

About the only thing we have going for us about now up here is low traffic, natural beauty, the UVM mens hockey team, and the new highway Quebec is building to connect Burlington and Montreal. It will be a quick 75 minute jaunt up there soon.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

This is actually basically an addition though, not a de novo structure. It would tie into Gutterson and Patrick Gym. But yes, I do realize construction isn't cheap.

i enjoy the Gutt and think it's perfect for the town and school. y'all are up there in the hills and the water and don't really need a big arena. it's quaint, it's loud enough. just what one would expect heading up there on the drive.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Another idea UVM could do is sell naming rights to the arena upfront. For example sell the rights for 30 years to Company X for $100 million dollars. This would equal out to about $3.33 million a year except company would pay it up front or throughout construction.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

I'm so happy these bong hitting, loud mouth losers from Vermont are out of the ECAC and are now Hockey East's problem. I've never seen a fan base talk so loud from a program that has done so little.

Actually, I usually take the kids and we go rather early anyways so we can watch warm ups and they can move around before cramming into the tiny seats. And I can't afford to pay more :(

And exactly what have the bears done? I guess you could argue they have a record 4 seasons in the last 10 where they have won 6 or fewer games / season? And heck that 4-21-4 season was quite an accomplishment, you don't see that level of performance very often. It is credit to the offense scoring a whopping 63 g over the course of the season...that has to be a record in and of itself?

I'm all for it, anything that speeds it up, maybe you could pass it along to our President...

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

The new facility for UVM is about four things that are all needed:

At least 1,500 more seats
More room for concessions
More room for VIP lounge space which will help them raise more athletic dept donations
More locker room and team lounge space

All of the above will help recruiting significantly.

I'm not a Bball fan but they need it far more badly than the hockey program. It's quite amazing what they have accomplished competitively with the court they play on.

I'm moving UML down in my preseason projectsion due to the loss of Melchrapi

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

I didn't know Brown still had a D1 program, I though it was a club team

This coming from a fan of a UVM team with such a "long an illustrious history of national championships"...UVM is a joke who looks in the mirror and thinks they are some sort of national power (unlike Brown who realizes they will never be Michigan).

Corey Latulippe likes Brown better than UVM (as does the NCAA's disciplinary department focusing sanctions, violations, and Elephant Walking)

Then why did he commit to UVM? Did he realize that even though he liked Brown better they sucked and he was better off on another team?

Now that's just sad. Brown shouldn't approach each season with this self-defeating attitude. They'll never get out of the ECAC cellar without setting some lofty goals. Maybe the school should hire Tony Little as Assistant Coach for Psychological Conditioning? :p ;)

Brown Hockey: WE CAN DOOOOO IT!!!!!
:p :p ;) :D

Benjamin Franklin once said to always look at life pessimistically. When things go well, you are always surprised. So goes Brown hockey. That being said, Brown has just as many National Titles as UNH and Vermont combined. I sleep well at night knowing that will likely always be the case.
