Hobey

Re: Hobey

We call Nyquist....Kariya Jr. here at Maine. :) (and rightfully so)

We once had a remarkable goalie named Howard. He didnt win the Hobey. The voters were on drugs that year.

Re: Hobey

One only has to look at Cal Ingraham's numbers before and after Kariya left to realize how much he dominated the game and made everyone around him a superstar....

1991-92 U. of Maine NCAA 15g 30a 45pts
1992-93 U. of Maine NCAA 46g 39a 85pts
1993-94 U. of Maine NCAA 12g 17a 29pts

Ingraham was a fun player to watch when he played out here in Idaho. Those stats are crazy. Paul Kariya was "the man!"

Re: Hobey

Just curious, why does Broc Little get so little attention at Yale while Chase Polacek, who plays is the same league, can be seen on every Hobey watch list I've seen (USCHO, INCH, Inside Hockey, etc.)...
Serious question, as I do not really keep up with ECAC hockey.

Because he's 28th on the scoring list. I know 1st in goals, but obviously a very selfish player with so few assts. ;) Must be a character issue.

Just kidding Yale fans. :p

Re: Hobey

Polacek has played 9 more games. And has more Pts. The ivy league teams start their season later than the rest of the NCAA.

Re: Hobey

Maybe because this joker can't even spell his first name right?

:p

If you're calling me a joker, I was just spelling his name exactly the same as the Yale fans (or assumed Yale fans) on this thread spelled it....

I knew about the number of games thing involving Ivy League teams previously, but that just didn't seem like a realistic explanation. Again, I am a Bemidji fan (also follow the WCHA, especially the Colorado teams since I was born there) and admittedly am not up to speed on players/teams in the ECAC. The points per game stat seems to be more telling than just goals per game. I'll have to look up more stats/info for Brock Little. Sounds like a pretty good player to me. My team's star player is not on the list, but probably doesn't deserve to be this year (Matt Read). I look forward to hopefully seeing him make a run at a spot in the Hobey Hat Trick next year, though.

Re: Hobey

Okay, I see now that I've looked up his stats. Yeah, he was kidding. Need to work on my skills to pick up on sarcasm. To go with my numchuk and bow hunting skills... :D

Re: Hobey

Yale's Little was beaten out by his own teammate Sean Backman for Ivy League player of the year, both are VERY talented and prolific scorers.
Backman won I believe because of his senior status.
