Hobart Statesmen Hockey 2024-2025 Reigning D3 Back to Back Champions

Hobart plays to a 0-0 OT tie with Babson in their last regular season game. They drop to #2 in the NPI to Curry. Last year's Corry win in the first round of the NCCA Playoffs was an awesome nailbiter as the Curry goalie made a billion saves. I'm hoping Hobart retains the last NEHC Championship and gets a bye in the NCAAs, but the first NEHC game is against Albertus Magnus , Hobart's one loss this season. Hoping for a six game winning streak .
It looks like the SOS is hurting Hobart more than the Winning pct.

Definitely. It was pointed out earlier how poor Hobart's SOS was. And once they so much as had a tie, it hit them hard in the NPI.

Not really a concern right now, though. Hobart will still be home until reaching the championship weekend.

Tonight The Cooler is back to Playoff hockey. A little extra incentive against Albertus Magnus who handed us our only loss. Respect all and fear none.

Albertus Magnus plays tough once more, but The Cooler grants Hobart a 3-1 win including an empty net goal. AM goaltender, Hale, was very good and kept it close with 44 saves. Beaver picks up the win with 19 saves but gives up a PP goal. Looks like New England next week. The Cooler awaits. Step one is accomplished.

Watched Saturday nights game live from the Cooler and I was impressed with the Freshman getting significant ice time . While our bid for the third consecutive will rely on a number of Seniors, the program will be well stocked with some great talent for the future.

Last NEHC Championship at The Cooler. I'm thinking Mavrick in goal this afternoon against New England. Should be some good hockey, but the winds will be blowing through the cracks at The Cooler, just as we like it. Hoping for more Statesmen hockey on Sunday. Norwich should win the nightcap giving them an opportunity to make the NCAAs .

Hobart beats NEC 2-0 , as Mavrick gets another shutout. The offense is getting chances but not converting, although winning is a good thing. Good luck to Skidmore and Norwich., see one of you you tomorrow.

The Statesmen, while securely in the NCAA tournament are playing for the last NEHC title, a bye in the NCAAs and home ice today. The season stats say Hobart should be favored over Norwich by 3 goals(two 4-1 January wins over Norwich) , however Hobart has not been able to score lately at the level they achieved during the season. The activity and shots on goal are there, but goal production is down. Norwich came back against a solid Skidmore team for a 3-2 win last night and will be very hungry to make the NCAAs. We'll see who wants it more. Nothing better than playoff hockey.

The NEHC title secured with 5-2 win over Norwich with Beaver in goal. We should get a bye in the NCAAs and play a home game on March 22. The journey to a hopeful three peat continues.

NCAA bracket gives Hobart a bye as expected, and a game against either Trine or Oswego at The Cooler on 3/22 .Luxury Box seats will be going for a pretty penny at The Cooler:LOL:. Good luck to every team selected. Three games to WIN for a three-peat. GO HOBART!

Definition of a luxury box seat at The Cooler -- your own space heater. :)

Like Romney Field House. Get a seat under one of the heaters and then go into the bathroom to warm your feet and hands with one of the hand dryers!! Been there, done that!!! Let’s move the game to the Deb into a real arena. 😂😂

So sad that Beaver has slipped so much, he's had to endure splitting game starts with Goyer. Honestly, I figured Beaver would be gone to a D1 program like the 2 last year, but no, I really think he wants to finish out at Hobart because of the respect for Coach Taylor and his team. They kinda embrace THE COOLER , although some alums are looking at an upgrade, although current $400 MM Capital campaign priority is focused on a science building and dorm upgrades . The D1 Lax program does get more $$, but it is disappointing at the D1 level compared to glory days of the 70s-90s with so many Championships. I think Hobart Hockey IS Coach Taylor and he 62 now but still works his ass off recruiting and coaching and is the ultimate gentlemen. There was a rumor that Clarkson might like to steal him since he is a Canton native but my intelligence on things like this is second and third hand. As far as three peats my money is on the Eagles to disrupt and Hobart to win.
Just as was the case for 4 of the 5 previous head coaches here in Troy, the just deep sixed another one to make it 5 of 6. Fortunately, at least, this one has two years left on his contract so they will have to pony up!!!

Will take a wild guess that if the guy was a decade or so younger, you have probably met and talked to someone who would be a good answer to solve two decades of utter irrelevance here.

Too many space heaters might test the circuit breakers.........yes the Cooler does have electricity, although during the Norwich game a couple of the overhead lights went out when Norwich had the puck....home ice has it's advantages.:)

RPI is doing worse in D1 Hockey than Hobart is doing in D1 lacrosse. RPI is a very rich institution and should be able to figure this out if they want to. Dave Smith winning about a third of his games doesn't really work. The Liberty League includes 5 D1 Hockey programs , St.Lawrence , RPI, Union, Clarkson and RIT with D3 in everything else. That's why I never want Hobart to spend a zillion bucks on a D1 rink and become an irrelevant D1 Hockey team. Thank God for Coach Taylor , we're so lucky to have him.
