Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

Whatever else this election proves, it shows again that Lord Acton was correct. He said: "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" Drunk and arrogant with power, Massachusetts democrats caused this disaster when they flexed their muscles by stripping then Governor Mitt Romney of the power to fill senate vacancies. Had they not done so, when Senator Kennedy passed away, Governor Patrick would have appointed a successor, and tonight's election would have never occurred. As they say in Texas, what goes around, comes around.

no no no.. mike barnicle said if mike capuano or ed markey were the D candidate they would have won by 10pts.

this is all the candidate. not the party, not obama, not hc reform.

all on the woman.

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

les,

how about the senate offers brown the deal they gave NEB if he votes 'yeah', then throws in some new pork for him since ben nelson was bought so cheap :p :p . then he can vote yes and we all benefit! :D

I am going to work at walmart because working in healthcare absolutely sux and the only thing that was keeping me slightly sane was the thought that someone might hamstring the insurance companies. Now they are partying thier azzes off because this was the biggest victory they have ever had and my poor patients are just screwed worse than ever.

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

A republican winning in MassiveTwo$hits? Well, now I've seen everything. Except of course a win by Michigan Tech. ;)

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

She never campaigned at all. Talk about absolute arrogance. 2 weeks ago she decided she might think about campaigning.

My prediction-They already said there were irregularities- they will investigate for awhile to hold things up. Try to ram the thing thru while they are investigating.

I tend to doubt it. The claims are that there were 5 instances of people being given ballots already filled out for Brown. 5. A couple of million votes cast and 5 allegations of "irregularities." Besides, how does the Republican "machine" affect the outcome of a race when every single important elected position in the state is filled by a Democrat? In the alleged "irregularities" it turns out poll workers inadvertently gave voters ballots that had been discarded and should have been destroyed. The ballots were retrieved and new ones issued. If you're really trying to put your thumb on the scale, you probably shouldn't advertise the fact that you're premarking ballots by passing them out to people on line.

Maybe. But this election would not have been necessary if the Democrats had not been so full of themselves and so embarrassingly stupid.

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

they do that and it will be nuts. only chance is for the house to vote up the senate bill that already passed.

even barney frank said they wouldn't do that.

I concur. 2010 will be very bad for the Dems, it's really a question of how bad. Screw around with seating Brown and they could lose both houses in November.

My prediction is they use the nuclear option. And as a result the GOP takes the house and gains 5-7 Senate seats in November. Obama has an advantage that Clinton didn't in 1994 in these elections and he is too arrogant to use it and change course.

rover says that all repubs are done in '10 because they didn't offer anything except "no". super majorities in both houses for dems -at least that's what he said a couple weeks ago :p :p

I thought it wouldn't have been necessary if Teddy boy didn't die. :p

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

I'm delighted she lost. I just wish it were possible to bust her back to her recruiter's office. She rose to fame in Massachusetts on the backs of innocent people accused of (and in some cases imprisoned for) sexual misconduct with children. It was the worst sort of opportunistic grand standing. Cold, heartless and ruthless. There was no abuse, none, and she knew or should have known it. Being the lead prosecutor in the Salem witch trials isn't exactly a credential I'd want to brag about.

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

Now the real fun begins. Any wagers on how long it takes Bill Galvin to certify tonight's election results? I will set the over/under at 10 days.

(Ted Kennedy of course was seated the very next day back in 1962)

:p

I am not keen on the Dems, Marcia is a bimbo. I would feel less desperate if the GOP had anything to say about reform except how we should hate the dems for proposing it. I am sick to my eyeballs trying to care for folks who can't afford care, who are undertreated and who have no net. Wasn't keen on this plan but it was something. Now there will be a whole lot of nothing and I will continue to be embarrassed that my country is the worst at providing basic care and I will need to continue to spend countless hours trying to work a system that doesn't work with little result while people end up sicker even tho we have the ability to make them better. Depressing can't begin to describe it.

:p

Took 'em two days to certify Nikki Tsongas a couple of years ago (in time for a veto override on Bush). Some Republican lawyers are saying state law says that as of tonight, Paul Kirk has no legal vote in the Senate. THAT could get interesting, too.

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?

Harry Reid says Brown will be seated "when the Senate gets the proper paperwork". that's like, when?, never? :)

Re: Hey Massachusetts! Coakley or Brown?
