Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Eh, wish this game wasn't called as tight, but oh well.
The little I've seen of ECAC officiating over the years makes me think that the WCHA referees may be better than I admit. They have a strange habit of interjecting themselves at key moments.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

After actually looking at the box score, I should clarify I meant "not as tight in the second half." There was one penalty in the first 32 minutes. Just over half of the rest of the game was played 5-on-5.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Just want to second "Congrats to Emerance Maschmeyer, ECAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player" watched the game on ESPN3, and what an effort she put forth. I think she will be a force in years to come.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

You're right. To beat a good team as Harvard three times in the same season is very difficult... The proof was made with a very difficult final for the Big Red today

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Hmmmn.....lose the regular series 0-2 (to Clarkson) and win in the tourney but split the series 1-1 (Cornell) and lose in the tourney....not predictable....maybe the top 3 in the ECAC are truly separated only by a whisker....

nonetheless, take a look at the consistency of the season record that resulted in a (deserved) #6 seed:

3 wins, 6 losses against top 5 teams
8 wins, three ties against bubble teams
13 wins against bottom half teams

and one more chance to address the losing record against top 5 teams....

She had a tough final regular season weekend against SLU and Clarkson. Got pulled after the first period against the Knights after allowing two goals. She has rebounded very nicely and yes, she was terrific in both games in Ithaca. That save she made in the first period against the Knights while Clarkson was on the PP was absolute highway robbery. Hope it is an indication of more great saves in the future.

This is all that really matters. The regular season record has no bearing on what happens on Saturday. It's one game to see who advances. You can invoke the Kurt Russell "Miracle" speech here but I think you get my drift. My biggest concern is Harvard's difficulty in winning a one goal game against top shelf competition. Saturday would be a great opportunity to start to reverse that trend.

Same here, no audio on my PC or tablet. wish there were punishment for outlets that get these rights and produce total crap.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Both goals scored so far were a little weak, especially BC's. I don't know how it snuck past Maschmeyer who had ample time to cover it. Otherwise good game so far, the teams seem pretty evenly matched.

And here I thought that I was the only one who complained about these things over the last few years.

Good to hear.

Couldn't agree more.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Game tied 1-1 after one period.

Same problem, no sound in first period. Band music now during intermission....a hopeful sign

You guys are probably too young to remember silent movies, so you're spoiled. ;)

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

They must read the boards (or my twitter feed). I just got arena noise.

And D2D, at least silent movies had the cards that came up with the important info. :D
