Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Harvard was full value for the win, but....

"Could have"........should haves.......it was a great game....give the Harvard TEAM credit.

 Why the sensitive response ?. The start of my sentence was "Harvard was Full value for the win". As regular posters know, I've been praising Harvard as the team to beat in the ECAC all year. I'm neither a Harvard fan, nor a Clarkson fan. Watched the game live yesterday as a non-partisan fan, and agree that Harvard was the better team, but my point was, a few bounces here or there earlier on and it is a different game. The first game of the day was a good example of a game that shifted back and forth as a result of momentum.

Having said that good luck to both teams in the Final today. My "betting" money is on Harvard, as they have the deeper squad, but the home ice advantage and experience of playing in big games, could be an advantage for Cornell. Either way, it should be a good paced game, as both teams are good skating clubs.

GREAT, GREAT WIN for the Crimson. Wow, how to gut it out and grind. Redemption to be sure and this pretty much ensures that we will be going to the NCAA tournament. Hopefully against a local team so that we can see the Crimson one more time live.

Mary Parker has been showing up lately and she and Miye D'Oench really came through today. I'll admit that I've been critical of the depth but today, it showed up. Big time.

Here's hoping we can take the championship. Will be difficult but hey, anything's possible.

GO CRIMSON!

I have somewhat tried to ignore some of the negative comments you make about Players and the play of the Harvard Women's team. Most years if you hadn't noticed they have been ranked in the top ten. But when you call out specific Players by name for "showing up" in my opinion it is wrong. Certainly MP has been at every game and has contributed as much as all of the other Players have. The TEAM has played great all year. We wish them the best today and all future games.

And yes "anything is possible" as we look forward to a great game today!

Go Crimson!!!

Don't know whether this helps anyone else but my Time Warner lisitings for today show Cornell at Harvard on Ch. 672 (Fox Sports Pacific) at 1PM. Since there isn't currently a men's game scheduled between these two I'm hoping this is the ladies live today! Let's hope so and may the better team win!!

Here in Saint Paul the same listing shows up at noon central on Comcast 264.

Bummer...false alarm. It's an archived men's game.

Can't get the game north of the border. Could not even find an option to pay and watch.

Live stats has Cornell leading 1-0 12 minutes in, and dominating on the shot clock 12-3. Is it really that one sided ?.

Through the first 2/3 of the first Cornell dominated. Then Harvard scored off the face off and it gave them new life.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Cornell didn't have a lot of great chances with that initial shot advantage, though they kept the puck in Harvard's zone and eventually capitalized on a poor Harvard breakout attempt.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Thanks for the updates. Live Stats still stuck at 12:09 of the first, while game is midway in second still 1-1 as per ECAC scoreboard. So much for "Presto" live stats.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

1-1 end of 2 after a scoreless 2nd period. Crimson had a BIG KILL on Cornell's 3rd and 4th straight PP, killing off 48 seconds of 5 on 3. Maschmeyer with some huge saves, including a poke check that broke up a one timer opportunity for Fortino. Crimson now on their 1st PP of the game, they will have 1:28 of fresh ice to attempt to take the lead. 20 minutes of regulation left.

GO CRIMSON!

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

BTW...It was interesting to note that two Cornell D's, Poudrier and Richardson were playing forward yesterday. Is that the same today ?.

Tough loss to swallow. Cornell converts on their 6th PP opportunity of the night, a dodgy slashing call, with 18 seconds left on it to take the final 2-1 lead. Crimson had a glorious chance earlier but Gina McDonald was rugby tackled before she could ever get the shot off. With BU winning 5-2 in Hockey East, seems like the Crimson have a date at Conte Forum next weekend for a trip to Minnesota.

Absolute Bull#$#$# call. Typical Cornell Lynah call. Unbelievable. Harvard never, ever gets calls like this. It is such crap.

Yeah, with BU's win, it looks like BC. I actually don't mind that as I'd like another shot at them. But this loss hurts. Some year at Bright, we'll get even. And maybe, just maybe the refs will grow some and have the stones to make a call on Cornell the way they did on Harvard today. Hell will probably freeze over before it happens.

Re: Harvard Crimson Women 2012-2013

Eh, wish this game wasn't called as tight, but oh well. ECAC titles are nice, but I care most about next week's game (likely @BC), and this result will leave Harvard with as much to prove as BC next week.

Congrats to Emerance Maschmeyer, ECAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player in a losing effort. Great turnaround two weeks after getting pulled vs. Clarkson, and you have to feel good about the program in net for years to come now.

Whole game was terribly officiated. Right before we got called for the hold that made it 5 on 3, Cornell's high forward set a pick on the Crimson PK at the top of the diamond (illegal) and then held her stick for a good 15-20 seconds (illegal). Thankfully we were able to kill off the 5 on 3 but I just knew what we were in for for the rest of the game. At least we can't accuse the ECACHL of gender bias...the refs on the men's side are equally as terrible (and equally as cowed at Lynah.)

Tight is fine as long as it benefits both teams. Oh well, time to move on I guess. Let's make like the basketball team and beat BC at home.

Just my personal taste, I get tired of watching too much PP.

LOL. I'd never have believed a decade ago, the year of the 17-2 game, that today men's basketball would have a 5-game winning streak vs. BC and women's hockey would have a 4-game losing streak. Well, Harvard's stopped losing streaks to BU & Cornell this season and the ECAC semifinal losing streak. One more chance to right a ship.
