Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Albany is the most practical location; Lake Placid is the coolest. I'm glad it's back in Placid for now, but I'm also so far that any site is a hike. I can understand that for 10 of the 12 schools' local fanbases it's a terribly inconvenient location.

8 out of the 12 of the same schools fanbases wouldn't travel even if it was in their back yard. So, the "inconvenient" argument has never made any sense, at least to me anyways lol.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Selfishly, wish the tournament was still in Albany. Lake Placid is a haul, made a couple of them years ago, have seen all I wish to see of Lake Placid, although a very pleasant place. No TV for the first time I can remember. You can make it back to Boston from Albany after the Saturday game, and hotels are reasonable. I don't understand, besides the big ice and the Olympic tradition, what is attractive for the tournament to Be in Lake Placid.

Good luck, they played very well last weekend, hope they keep it up.

The big sheet will generally favor Harvard, a team built from speed, playmaking, and creativity. Harvard has played very well in the games it has played on the big sheet this year and it has allowed their highly-skilled forwards extra time and space to be more creative and dangerous.

Well, you said it yourself that it is a haul for you. For others, like St. Lawrence, Clarkson, it isn't a haul. They have tried to put the tournament in several places and Lake Placid has been the best fit for the tournament for several reasons (hence why they came back after they left). No matter where it goes someone will complain about it. The fact that in Lake Placid you feel welcomed by the entire community and you can tell instantly that YOU are the main attraction that weekend has a good feeling to it. It makes the players feel like they are actually being rewarded for their hard work all season long rather than playing in a large city where almost everyone doesn't have a clue what ECAC Hockey even is. Plus, the rink is the perfect size for the tournament. It seats between 7,500-8,000 which is the perfect size as we have been hanging around the 5,000 mark for the tournament in attendance for quite a few years now. Albany seats something like 15,000-16,000, which is way too large for our tournament as it stands now. Hotel prices are one thing that is a little higher than other places, but you can find some good deals if you look around and the places are very nice. We are staying in a suite at the Golden Arrow and it is beautiful. The fact that I parked my car here yesterday at the resort and won't have to move it the entire weekend is a huge bonus. Lots of gas money saved, which is always a good thing. You can walk up the streets and find all sorts of restaurants and nice retail shops to browse and the fans of all the teams walking the streets. I just love Lake Placid and the way I feel every time we come up here for the tournament. It really is the best fit for the league and I hope they continue to come here. We all have our preferences (of course) but to me it is just the best fit by far. :)

Thanks for the reasoned response. I enjoyed, to a certain extent, our visits there, and they do make you feel welcome there. I haven't been in well over ten years, and there may be a few more restaurants there. I do understand that it is closer for some of the ECAC schools. I wouldn't complain except that there is no TV coverage this year, and I could have made it to Albany, not to Lake Placid. Good luck in the tournament.

I think Springfield ma would be a solid place to host the final four. Close to Yale and QU. Dartmouth and Harvard are close by as well and brown is a couple hours while the Albany area teams could get there easily. Rink holds about 7000 more than enough for the ECAC.

Thanks! What is the internet address you go to in order to get the game streamed to a computer? The ECAChockey.com website doesn't say!

HOW ARE YOU FOLKS PLANNING TO WATCH THIS GAME ON YOUR TVs OR COMPUTERS? Please let me know

Harvard will be out 3 of top6 on D. No sherman, newell, or olsen.

Why? Injuries?
Plus, did Malone get hurt tonight?
I was listening to WHRB. Very odd broadcast, the broadcast team did a good job but they cut to music about 5 seconds after the final goal with no recap.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Whew. Vesey came through again in the clutch. St. Lawrence played a great third period. The long stoppage of play as the refs looked at the puck in St. Lawrence's crease probably helped Harvard as the first line got a rest and they could send them out again.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Congrats on a hard fought win. Good luck tomorrow. Don't waste tonight's effort by losing to Q Pac!!!

I for one will be glad to see Vesey leave. What did he score against us this year??? 5-6 goals. The hat trick that saved the game in Cambridge, tonight, can't remember what he did in Canton. He was a one man wrecking crew. Had we won 1 or 2 of the three games we likely would have squeaked into the NCAA's. Not to be. Congrats again.

Yes. Injured.

Injury Report:
Who is injured? Who is stepping up to replace them?

3 of Harvard's Top 6 defenseman are injured. Wiley Sherman, Victor Newell, and Jacob Olsen.

Playing for them are 2 frosh (Adam Baughman and Victor Dumbovsiky) and a walk on (Thomas Aiken).

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Very impressed by how your team has progressed this season. Without that major penalty tonight it might have been a different game. Always heartbreaking to lose, but you guys will live to play another day.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Tough game. Kudos to Quinny. Lots of good looks tonight. Blackwell could have had 3 goals and then rolling puck on Vesey. Ugh!

It's all about getting healthy. Be great to see Shernan and Malone back next week. Anything else would be gravy.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Question??
During the play by play call someone mentioned that a Quinny player named Miner-Barron was a graduate student. I looked at the Quinny roster and his year says "Gr" in the listings. I never knew graduate students could play varsity. Is this something new??

Not if they still have eligibility

Anas graduated in three years I believe. Hopefully he got out of school with his head intact.
