Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

It was reported on the RPI thread that Kasdorf pulled a groin muscle in the Friday morning skate. He gave it a go on Friday, but was not 100% and did not improve overnight.

Okay, so I'm not a regular on the RPI thread for obvious reasons. Thanks for the update. Makes sense given how much he means to the team.

That wasn't meant as criticism.

More specifically:

I didn't really take it as such. Although it was hard to tell by his play on Friday. He really had no chance on any of the goals.

Question about TV and internet coverage for Friday: Verizon doesn't show American Sports Network and TSN GO seems to be available only for subscribers to Canadian TV networks....so am I blacked out?

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Good luck in the QF. I thought SLU played well enough to win tonight (not that Harvard didn't), and played well enough to be better than 0-2 on the season. I hope they get one more shot at you guys.

So . . . be careful what you wish for, I guess. :)

Actually, I still feel this way. I think Harvard will have a very hard time beating SLU three straight times. Obviously they are more than capable, and they still have the best player in every game they play. But seriously, I'm really excited to see the Saints get another crack at your team. Harvard is very good, it would be a great win, and I think SLU has a good shot at pulling it off. It should be a great game either way, and I can't wait to see it.

Yeah, for all those wondering, American Sports Network is usually something that gets picked up by other channels. For example, it's usually on SNY in the New York area but for the semis it's on WRNN, which is a channel I have honestly never heard of. But the final will be on SNY.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

The TV network that ECAC deals with is quite odd. ECAC is the EASTERN College Athletic Conference. The only channel in New England appears to be one in Connecticut. Meanwhile the games will be broadcast on five channels in Louisiana, giving choices to both Louisiana hockey fans and the hockey fan in Oklahoma City will be pleased.

It appears that I will be reduced to paying $10 per game to watch on my laptop. I might just listen on WHRB (assuming that the HRB staff don't decide that an opera company in New York City is more closely related to Harvard interests than the Harvard hockey team)

Completely agree, but while SLU is also a good skating team, there is something about Harvard's offensive creativity and the big sheet that works.

I know I've said this a thousands times, but that opera company pays for every single bit of programming on that station. You want more Harvard hockey? Feel free to take out some $200 ads during the games.

I think it is hard for any team to beat another three straight times. Yale found that out the hard way last year. That said, I would rather play SLU than Clarkson since the Knights really handled us this year. The big ice surface would have favored us big time against Cornell; against the Saints, not so much. Should be a great game.

Harvard commit tops defensemen rankings at Beantown Spring Classic:

We certainly seem to be loading up on defense. We've got at least five blue chippers coming to Cambridge in the next two to three years (Fox, Marino, Walsh, Bode, and now this kid). Hope we can get some forwards to complement these guys.

Thanks! What is the internet address you go to in order to get the game streamed to a computer? The ECAChockey.com website doesn't say!

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

This weekend is going to be great. Harvard needs to buckle down and get it done. If they can pull of a nice run here going into the NCAA they will be a great story going into the first round. Lets go red

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Should be a great one. Very interesting to see what our back line looks like. Olson and Newell have not played in weeks and Sherman left the ice early last Saturday against RPI and did not return.

We could very well be without 3 of our Top 6 defenseman.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Selfishly, wish the tournament was still in Albany. Lake Placid is a haul, made a couple of them years ago, have seen all I wish to see of Lake Placid, although a very pleasant place. No TV for the first time I can remember. You can make it back to Boston from Albany after the Saturday game, and hotels are reasonable. I don't understand, besides the big ice and the Olympic tradition, what is attractive for the tournament to Be in Lake Placid.

Good luck, they played very well last weekend, hope they keep it up.

Well, you said it yourself that it is a haul for you. For others, like St. Lawrence, Clarkson, it isn't a haul. They have tried to put the tournament in several places and Lake Placid has been the best fit for the tournament for several reasons (hence why they came back after they left). No matter where it goes someone will complain about it. The fact that in Lake Placid you feel welcomed by the entire community and you can tell instantly that YOU are the main attraction that weekend has a good feeling to it. It makes the players feel like they are actually being rewarded for their hard work all season long rather than playing in a large city where almost everyone doesn't have a clue what ECAC Hockey even is. Plus, the rink is the perfect size for the tournament. It seats between 7,500-8,000 which is the perfect size as we have been hanging around the 5,000 mark for the tournament in attendance for quite a few years now. Albany seats something like 15,000-16,000, which is way too large for our tournament as it stands now. Hotel prices are one thing that is a little higher than other places, but you can find some good deals if you look around and the places are very nice. We are staying in a suite at the Golden Arrow and it is beautiful. The fact that I parked my car here yesterday at the resort and won't have to move it the entire weekend is a huge bonus. Lots of gas money saved, which is always a good thing. You can walk up the streets and find all sorts of restaurants and nice retail shops to browse and the fans of all the teams walking the streets. I just love Lake Placid and the way I feel every time we come up here for the tournament. It really is the best fit for the league and I hope they continue to come here. We all have our preferences (of course) but to me it is just the best fit by far. :)

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Albany is the most practical location; Lake Placid is the coolest. I'm glad it's back in Placid for now, but I'm also so far that any site is a hike. I can understand that for 10 of the 12 schools' local fanbases it's a terribly inconvenient location.
