Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

This is great news and well deserved. Congrats to Jimmy and his family. Caps off a great career.

In this morning's Boston Globe, there was an article on his winning the Hobey but the emphasis was predictably on his most recent decision to spurn the Preds. Jimmy reiterated that finishing school with his classmates and receiving his diploma at graduation was very important to him and that he had no idea who he would sign with at this time. His dad certainly had some ideas where the Bruins were concerned - he made no bones about dropping hints that if the Bruins had a different coach, maybe his son would sign with them. Even though the elder Vesey believes that in the long run, Jimmy would be best served playing elsewhere. Pressure of playing for the hometown team and all.

Congratulations to Jimmy Vesey on the Hobey. Wow, first the Hobey and the the national championship, maybe. Fans of other conferences are going to go nuts.

This was true, but it as also about the scrutiny playing in your hometown vis a vis having a little more anonymity playing elsewhere.

Great news on Jimmy. Well deserved. He did just about everything the right way - throughout his whole college career, he stayed patient and stayed the course. He was the 13th forward on the World Junior team and by the end of the tourney, he was on the first line and helped lead the team to the gold medal. Same goes for college.

Great player, great teammate, great student (fluent in Mandarin) - and he wants to get his degree. Talk about a throwback!

Harvard '18 recruit Bode Wilde (who will skate for the USNDT for the next 2 years) was selected in the 2nd round of the OHL Draft by Saginaw. Earlier this week, Oliver Wahlstrom (also a Harvard '18 recruit) was also selected to the USNDT team.

Harvard '18 recruit Jack Drury (son of Ted) was invited to the USNDT camp, but was not selected.
