Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Geoffrey Fieger grinds my gears. Back to getting his usual camera time with the three local stations now that he suddenly has a major case again.

Yup. Everytime I see him or his evil female counterpart Gloria Allred, I immediately hope for the client to spend the rest of his days in the slammer. Instinctual. These two ambulance chasers deluxe give the legal profession a bad name, and that's an enormous accomplishment.

this product goes on my list of crap americans spend money on while complaining about the economy and lack of money for necessities

also on the list:
fatheads
tanning
fake nails
Even when the economy was good I never got the point of paying for tanning.

(I don't know what fatheads are and I won't pay for fake nails, but I understand why some people do. )

Spelling is just too **** hard.

So let's picket the national spelling bee, trying to lobby a complete overhaul of our language.

Froot? Enuf? Are you kidding me? I swear people won't be happy until every single person in this country is a drooling idiot incapable of doing anything for themselves.

"slow" should be "slo," ? ***. Don't people pronounce the "w" in slow?

Domino's Pizza.

The franchise closest to my work had a deal today (1-topping larges for $5.99), so we ordered a bunch.

I'll admit that the pizza actually has improved, but there was one major problem: both of the sausage pizzas had no cheese on them. Literally, no cheese. Just sausage, sauce and dough.

The glass-half-full person in me is thinking "Well... at least they cooked it".

It would have been ten times funnier if it was Westboro.

God hates schwas.

This is nothing new. For many years Colonel McCormick, as publisher of the Chicago Tribune, insisted on similar spellings. I don't recall them all, but the paper regularly spelled "clue" as "clew" and other wierdness.

Teddy Roosevelt wanted to simplify spelling. Congress shot him down.

Being told I can't use my kitchen because my roommate is making cookies.

Here's something. If I wanted to eat a plant, I'd eat a plant. If I want to eat meat, I'm going to eat meat. No reason to disguise the plant as meat, I'll just eat lettuce and call it a day.

We have meat-eating teeth for a reason, and it's not to look pretty. Our bodies are designed to digest meat and a lot of nutrients in meat, surprise, we need. A couple friends of ours, who are vegetarians, wonder why they've been getting sick all the time. I dunno, because you're depriving your body of something it needs? Just a thought.

Save a plant, eat a vegan.

People like you grind my gears, you inane fake oppressed majority. Who gives a crap about whether vegetarians want to have meat that 1) doesn't effect the environment 2) doesn't have a component of guilt? I mean this doesn't concern you at all. But yet you have to throw in your stupid 2 cents.

We have meat eating teeth...well god, why don't we just eat babies then too? That's a weak supporting argument.

Lots of meat eaters get sick too. It's called keeping proper nutrition. Maybe your friends who are vegetarian are just stupid. I mean they do associate with you.

I never criticize people for eating meat: that's their choice. But then to give me crap for what I eat? GFY.

Fake meat is a lucrative industry. How dare non-meat eaters want to eat something like meat but isn't?

There are religious, moral, and environmental reasons not to eat meat. Why do you have to give people crap for those choices. If this was some Seventh Day Adventist would you be so against them?

We have meat eating teeth because we evolved from primates. If we were "meant" to eat meat then why would God make our stomachs unable to consume uncooked meat. You mean to say we developed fire before incisors?

No. It's not our nature to eat meat OR to be vegetarians. We're survivalists. We choose to eat meat because it is TASTY and currently cheap (intentionally lowered to the point of easy access.) It's all a choice. You choose to eat meat. You enjoy it. No one is interfering with that choice. No one is even judging that choice.

But you have to judge other people's choices and then act repressed when you're the overwhelming majority?

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

The problem is, there are a significant number of vegetarians/vegans who think they are better than everyone else just because they choose not to consume meat and/or other animal products. I'm sure you know the type - they tend to be young, female, obnoxiously preachy, and rarely make the effort to consume a meatless diet that is actually balanced (making everything they tell you about 'health benefits' richly ironic).

Surely you recognize that those types can be just as annoying to the average person as the people who criticize vegetarians are to you?

Sure. Hate those people too.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

All I can say is that I have no problem eating meat.

Suckling pig (aka babies)- yum- thin skin = crispier.
suckling duck- FTW.
foi gras (aka engourged goose liver) = yum. (my favorite is with some acidic fruit compote + a good glass of Pinot.)

I'm not going to eat fabricated meat. And I'm also going to try to find local meat where it's grazing on grass so it's actually helping the theoretical greenhouse issues as opposed to hurting it. And I'm not ONLY eating meat, but keeping it to a proper amount, knowing that as hunter/gatherers, eating a 1/4 hamburger a day was not part of our historical diet. Deck of cards size...

Balance, and as little factory food as possible.

I like eating meat, and I also try to have a meat free meals when possible as well. (that whole moderation thing). I hate soy with a passion, so I probably won't ever be a total vegetarian. As far as veggie products tasting like chicken, it sounds like a good idea to me. There are already mushroom based products that are decent substitutes for chicken.
