Got Snow?

Re: Got Snow?

Quote SNOWMAGEDDON unquote

I live in South Arlington, but I'm supposed to be in the city tonight for dinner until 1030 and I'm terrified Metro is going to cut me off. Its almost impossible to tell whether the they'll give a warning online or via their phone service about when the snow levels are reaching the 8 inch shutdown point, or whether they just close the above ground tracks without warning.

Supposedly this is going to be a bigger snowfall than December's 20 incher.

Only an idiot would require somebody to NEED to be out in this storm unless you are emergency personnel. I don't care how high ranking this idiot is or how cute she may be.

Re: Got Snow?

wow. Washington is really going to get hit. I had to giggle a bit though that the National Weather Service was issuing a bulletin telling people how to shovel snow! :p :)

Yeah, I should've added I was considering not going, but its apparently going to switch to rain for the next four hours. Either way I need to move back to a neighborhood with below ground only network station.

Wrong answer.

Correct answer:

Only an idiot would require somebody to NEED to be out in this storm unless you are emergency personnel. I don't care how high ranking this idiot is. On the other hand, if she's hot, you could convince her to take you back to her place... you ought to risk it :D

Re: Got Snow?

yeah houghton's been interesting...we've been getting our normal doseage but for the last week...we haven't seen any...

At first glance (haven't checked the stats) MN has gotten more snow than I remember in the past few years, but we've also had an obscene amount of rain (but no thundersnow, dangit). There are major highways here (looking at you, Mr Hwy 169 between New Hope and Minnetonka) that are torn to shreds because of it.

And a related note, there are some total kickarse icicles hanging from my building's gutters. One's about 3 feet in length.

Re: Got Snow?

40" of snow in Colesville, MD
29 hours without power
50 degrees in house when power got back on.

I have a picture or 2 that I can show you after I shovel.

See you in March!!!

Re: Got Snow?

Well, we're gonna have our first DEATH STORM of 2010 here in the Chicago Area tonight into Wed...

Forecast for my area is 6-12 inches... I'm guessing 4-6 for anywhere not right on Lake Michigan  The wind is supposed to be up over 20mph though, so it should keep things interesting...

Re: Got Snow?

Ya...snowed here in Minneapolis the last 12 hours...supposed to snow another 30.

Sometimes big snows have some fun to them...after a long winter, this one's going to be a drag.

Re: Got Snow?

We have another snow storm in coming to the DC region and are apprently on track for a record winter if this thing hits its projected ten inch snowfall. I'm basically prepared to not go to work until Friday.

Thanks to our fair mayor wanting to be all flinty, I'm at work. Had to take the Metro in - still operating underground only and single-tracking - and had to switch lines to do so. Yeesh.

Re: Got Snow?

612 could get up to 9" today/tonight. Which is probably the storm that will hit the East coast in a day or two.

As it turns out, everything is still open here. :p

Re: Got Snow?

10 inches of snow keeps you from work? seriously?

We just got dumped with 30 some inches of snow. In a region that averages 16 inches for the entire winter. If we get another 10 on top of that, yes, it will keep most people from work.

That is rough. Some people were telling me it was probably more time efficient for them to walk from u street to foggy bottom to work rather than risk the metro wait and transfer.

I still live in Crystal City, so we're basically cut off. I'm moving back to the District in a month, so I've got to enjoy using this excuse while I can.
