I basically spent the past 48 hours at my gf's house because apparently metro can't be asked to keep the line through Arlington to Pentagon and Reagan National open. I thought they'd go the extra mile until they told me today the line wouldn't be open until maybe tomorrow morning. Bush league:mad:

i've been looking out from my window over to us 50... US 50 is clear but the side streets next to me haven't been touched... i mean people have driven on them but by and large the roads are a car length wide and all the cars are still buried... if you are waiting for the snow to melt you'll be waiting until after christmas.

I told you. :D http://www.opm.gov/status/ I haven't listened to the news, but what usually happens is the Fed wants to open, but the Council of Governments (or whatever it is called) tells them that if they are open, there will be massive gridlock, especially since a great many private companies follow what ever the Fed Gov't does with closings.

Personally, they had all day Sunday to clear things, but like usual, they didn't. At least they didn't wait until the last minute to decide.

Went from -2F to 32F in 3 days... low front from Asia or Hawaii... which means all that cold air will be pushed into mid west. I hope we don't get rain it's getting too warm here 20F-35F... still perfect x-mas setting.

I'll let you know later tonight as we're just about ready to head right into the teeth of it (towards SW Minnesota into NW Iowa). It isn't quite there, yet, but it should be arriving about the same time we are.

My wife's flying out of here tonight to head to Detroit for Christmas to visit her family...as long as she makes it safe, it can snow all it wants after that. We're supposed to end up with another foot of snow by Christmas morning, so we'll see.

Hour 1: There's a light dusting on the ground/cars. It's cold, dark, and windy. I have enough supplies for 7 days, but I fear I may need more. It's too late to go out, as the visibility is only a couple miles. Will keep communication open as long as the storm doesn't take out my internet. If you do not hear from me, expect the worst and hope for the best.
