Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

I think it is funny when SCCC fans talk about the chants at mariucci and how they are the same every game. I mean this is the fanbase that still dances to Cotton Eye Joe, scream "F the Gophers" and their claim to fame is "sieving" to every song on the Jock Rock CDs. :p

My main point was that there were twice as many negative cheers taking shots at the opposition than there were positive ones about the Gophers. You'll probably hear "F the Gophers" once tonight.

Short answer? Correct...for the most part.

If you fire a puck off the glass and it rebounds off your own helmet and into the net, it's not a quality scoring chance...even though it was a goal.

But that is not what happened here. Hansen walked in alone on Lee with a good scoring angle. If Hansen does not score on that play, it would certainly have gone down as a quality scoring chance. And by "garbage" goals, I am talking about the ones that Rau always seemed to get earlier in the season, the ones where the puck bounced off the goalie, and he was there at the goal mouth to tap it in. Does that require skill? Well, enough skill to get in the right place at the right time, yes, but "skill shot" wise? No.

That 3rd period was played in the St Cloud end minus the last minute, Faragher was stopping everything. Cloud was out of gas.

Agreed on the Warning goal... wow.

Much needed sweep

The Play by play guy tonight whoever in the hell he is was 100 times better than Lapanta. The sad thing is as much as I hated Mazzaco for being a homer at least he could call a game.

I know the final is important but it is impressive that the shots were 46 - 12 for the game...

Congrats on outshooting a team that generally gets outshot anyway and was rolling 3 lines that have never practiced together and a 4th line with 2 d men playing forward.

That being said, still a good win for the gophers. The game winner was a beauty. They deserved the 2 points, if we had managed to eek out a tie it would have been all on Faragher. The game should have been 5-2 or worse.

And how does Festler miss the net that bad on the 2-1 in the 2nd period?
