Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Congrats on outshooting a team that generally gets outshot anyway and was rolling 3 lines that have never practiced together and a 4th line with 2 d men playing forward.

That being said, still a good win for the gophers. The game winner was a beauty. They deserved the 2 points, if we had managed to eek out a tie it would have been all on Faragher. The game should have been 5-2 or worse.

And how does Festler miss the net that bad on the 2-1 in the 2nd period?

I feel for Cloud, Motzko is one of the most underrated bb's in the league, he runs a tight ship, that team was decimated with injury this year.

And still it was a tough series.

Nice all-around dominating effort from MN this weekend, although it'd be nice if they could get some separation goals.

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

A Prochno pipe away from a tie game with 30 seconds. Still, the Festler play is the one that still bothers me. Can't take anything away from the U
though.

I cant tell you how many times I was bordering a heart attack tonight. But all the while I couldn't help to think how close that SCSU program was this year to making some noise. Nothing went their way this year. With Motzko at the helm its only a matter of time. But it must kill him to know how close they were this year, and had they been healthy this weekend series would have a different outcome.

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Congrats on a big sweep to the Gophers. Should be a nice boost in the pariwise and SCSU will likely fall off as a TUC. It would have been an unjust world if the Huskies would have tied that up in the final minute. We were outplayed the entire game.

Hugely impressed by Faragher again tonight. That kid is playing out of his mind right now.

A lot of teams have to deal with the injury bug. MSUM, UND, and SCSU have had it really rough this year. Hopefully the experience that our young players are getting will pay big dividends in the future.

Gracious as always in defeat. Your young players will most certainly benefit from the experience, and as I said in the game thread, Faragher is going to play a huge part in getting SCSU back on top of the WCHA next year, and then the NCHC. There should be 0 goaltender controversy in St. Cloud.

Gracious as always in defeat.

Unfortunately I have had a lot of practice with this the last 2 seasons....

Still love going to the games all the same. I think Bob is a class act and will do great things with this program in the near future.

Good crowd in the Hockey Center tonight. All of the Gopher fans I came across were a good bunch. Hope all that made the trip were treated well.

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

The better team won tonight. SCSU came out pretty strong, but it was clear as the game went on that our injuries are finally becoming too much to overcome, not to mention we missed quite a few scoring chances, either by mistakes or by the Gophers' PK. I have to wonder how we'd have fared with Leblanc in the lineup.

Faragher was excellent as always, I'm looking forwards to seeing him over the next few seasons. It was a disappointing loss, but at least we kept it close, and it was good to see the Gophers again for the first time in 4 years.

Faragher is a stud, and im convinced Motzko will have Cloud in the frozen 4 soon. I think he's one of the best in the biz.

We talk a lot of crap, but I have never had a problem in Cloud.

(this is Brenthoven)

Agreed on this. And we've said some bad things.

Anyway, awesome to hear about the sweep (I am in DaLoot, and watched an amazing series up here). Keep it going!

Me neither. I love their style of play. I agree with Mariucci, the Huskies have a lot of talent, they were just devastated by injuries this year. I would not be surprised to see them at the top of the conference in the near future.

I just think Motzko really gets everything humanly possible from his boys and runs a tight ship, not to mention that Faragher(sp) is something special.

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

I'm hoping Faragher goes pro early. Man he looked good, as did Hanowski and a number of other Huskies. Motzko does thing right, could have quit on it given the numbers and the way the Gophers were skating and they never did. Great effort all weekend by a depleted team.

So one whole year? ;)

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Gophers sure deserved four points this year, but God**** it would've been nice to get some points that weren't deserved on our part for anything but effort. They worked their tails off all weekend.

Hope you guys don't lose another game in the regular season and keep tUMD from winning a conference championship, and if we don't make the Final Five I will probably be pulling for you guys.

Then I hope you guys "Husky" the first round of the NCAAs. :D
