Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

I'd just like to say here, the Gophers got some major assists from the refs tonight.
The 4th gophers goal- no review for a very good chance that there was a gopher in the crease. Replays showed red between tip of a gopher skate blade and the white of the ice. The Penalty box official even opened the door, expecting a review. You have the tech, use it.
Seidel Charged the Goaltender? While he was getting his feet swept out from under him? While he had the puck? I dunno, something seems a bit fishy. This led to a PPG for the Gophers.
Bergman was blatantly tripped in the 2nd period, the stick was in the armpit. Gophers got the puck, beat the defense, beat Reiter, goal. No call on what really should've gone.
I am VERY sure that due to my favoritism, I missed game-altering missed calls on the bulldogs, of wrong calls on the gophers. But still. Can we expect refs who will actually know how to ref for the next UMD game? The linesmen were missing big time offsides all night and all last night too. Sandelin, put in a complaint.

take a look at last nights CFB, and then come back and talk sense. you can't expect the refs to give you two games in a row, after all.

Love it... sour grapes.

Edit: also funny your screen name and you are biaching about the refs... classic

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Pretty standard to discount a win due to refs when it suits. Obviously the Gophers did nothing to help themselves. They would of lost 100-0 had it not been for officiating.

Thanks for recognizing that.

If I were you I would be more worried that your goaltender didn't show up.

A referee *****fest and you didn't invite us? I thought we were friends, UMD. We invited you into our fancy conference and everything.

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Keep chatting up last year, cause your team just got swept by a better team.

I have no problem bosting that Duluth is TITLETOWN, USA... and very proud of it. Has been the last 3 years with multiple sports programs each year winning National Championships.

Gophers got some very lucky bounces. If you try and turn that statement around have fun with it and your fairy tale world. Better team? They won, but the better team doesn't always win. Most recently see North Dakota 2010-11 and the previous post as quoted below sums it up:

"MN executed well when they had to, but generally speaking, I thought they got outplayed for the bulk of this weekend 4 on 4 / 5 on 5.

Going 6-9 on the powerplay and winning each game by a goal tells me they need to clean up their even strength play. The D needs to get a lot better at moving the puck out of the zone and making smart decisions at the blue line. There were a lot of needless turnovers back there that cost goals this weekend. "

Very solid view of the weekend. I'm not going to argue anything within those quotes.

MN capitalized on the power plays they were GIVEN and UMD struggled. JT Brown, misses an ENG on Friday that would've changed the outcome of the wknd. (however, as some UMD fans thought he missed on purpose? No, someone got a piece of his stick or the puck as he released and it was just enough to redirect it) Travis Oleksuk misses a wide open net on the PP tonight. There were some other posts and bounces that didnt go the Bulldogs way both nights.

MN didn't outplay UMD by any means this weekend. Chris Casto scored a goal each night for the Gophers! Thank him for being in the wrong place @ the wrong time. Friday a skate, tonight a stick. Hockey can be a game of lucky bounces and this weekend they belonged to the Gophers.

I won't argue the fact the MN is clearly better then they have been in the past and you Gophers fans have alot to look forward to if they can play together and capitalize on the special teams play. Your team will only be as good as Rau is in that department. (IMO)

Oh, and some of you gopher fans on here are now questioning the scorekeepers and statisticians that UMD didn't have ~50 SOG each night? Be happy for Patterson and the saves he's made keeping you guys from putting the brown bags back on and calling for Lucia's head again.

So, like the Common Man says... "I'm happy for ya..." 4-0 Go Gophers! Michigan Tech swept Bucky & is #1 in the USCHO Pairwise, the Sioux tied Maine, Denver lost to BU. Can't get any better for you guys. LOL (remember it's only 2 games into a long WCHA season)

UMD travels to the Pairwise #2 Providence next weekend...

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Guess they really showed Jake Hansen.

Pretty much, Jake spoke the truth and the UMD fans start whining and crying and look like Jan Brady fans now.

Take your beating like the good little sister that you are UMD.

Pairwise now

Yep we are 4-0, much better than being 1-3 like you.

almost as lucky as getting the weakest region ever for the NCAAs.

(I've never been so sure of someone taking the bait, although I rarely feel the urge to fish here either.) The Gophs did get a couple bounces, but they have also had a couple years of being on the short end of most bounces, party just circumstance and partly on amount of hustle. But my point of the better team winning is that while UMD had more puck control tonight 5 on 5, UM clearly had the better goalie, better PK and better PP. And even for all the puck-control and shots, it wasn't like the dogs were unloading endlessly from just outside the crease.

But I know, refs and everything (posts etc) went MN way. (I guess I forgot a couple posts by MN tonight though. But we won't count those.)

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Gotta head to bed so I can get up and shoot at some birds tomorrow. My goal is to fire more shots than the two guys I am hunting with. There was a time last year I shot more birds than them so it doesn't matter if I get more tomorrow, as long as I get more shots. I can always keep bringing up last year's hunt if they do better.

(I was going to stay up to get a laugh out of Duder's response, but those things must take him an hour to compose.)

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Pairwise now

Yep we are 4-0, much better than being 1-3 like you.

Get over your lucky bounces, I'm not bothered by being 1-3, honestly I figured 2-2 to start the season with top two D gone and over 50% of the scoring going against preseason #1 that you ended their season and has nearly everyone back. It's hockey. But maybe you should feel insulted that Mich. Tech is also 4-0 and #1 in the Pairwise... and MN is #9. Once again... I'll repeat it Titletown USA is in Duluth, MN and hasn't been anywhere close to Mpls in oh 9 years? 4-0, ok but nice cupcake schedule opening weekend with Sacred Heart to build up the fanbases arrogance-typical MN Gophers non-conf. scheduling...you can hardly compare Notre Dame to Sacred Heart and as my previous post said and the person in quotes that actually seemed to watch the game and has some common sense and isn't all over the funny kool-aid like some of you are. MN was outplayed 4-4/5-5 all weekend. And, once again had help in coming out on top on the scoreboard. But, yup I'll agree the score is all that counts in the end. No sour grapes here however you guys really need to get over the BUDDISH CFB call, you won! That's the whole reason I decided to join in this lovefest post. You gophers fans complain even when you were lucky enough to win!?!

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

I feel the Gophers were fortunate to leave Duluth with four points. But that is the game we love. It is obvious that Minnesota needs to work on their defense. I hope they look past the sweep and fully realize it and work hard on it.
