I'm thinking Brazil doesn't have a high amount of folks coming here, their economy is cranking. I don't care who comes here if its done legally and they have something to add. I don't read Pats columns so I wasn't sure what he was ranting about.

I didn't mean we need Brazilians, I mean we need race mixing, which is how Brazilians got so gorgeous. Nordics + West Africans + Portuguese = PROFIT.

Generally I'd agree with you; however, the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction is no deterrent against a suicide bomber.... :(

I touched on this in later posts but there is even less chance a lone bomber can get his or her hands on a functioning nuke than a nuclear armed Iran lobs an atom bomb at one of its close neighbors. Nuclear weapons are incredibly hard to build, maintain and successfully detonate. The crazies in ISIS or any of the other terrorist groups we all have been hearing about for decades now would have done it by now if they could. I'm not saying it can't or won't happen, my problem is how we treat it as if it is some sort of inevitability and overreact because of that. Let's just nuke the living @**! out of everybody now because someone might get us some day.

No one with the cache to have one is willing to become the victim of a nuclear response. Why do leaders such as Bin Laden go into hiding? Because they don't want to die.

Greatest game of Chicken in history. I believe "cachet" is the operative word you're looking for though. ;)

Bin Laden died in 1999. The governments covered it up to create false flag "justification" and push us into an endless war.

MAD worked because the actors were rational, had a fixed address, and at some level had their respective peoples' best interests in mind. That is not true of fanatics, whether their belief is an economic system or a religion.

Monopoly empires like ours are fleeting, and the danger period is when it's slipping away to a traditional balance of power situation. In a hundred years we'll have a multi-polar world with fairly evenly strong power centers in the Anglosphere, the old continental European colonial sphere, and Asia. Hopefully a tripod system will be stable since if any member steps out of line they're overwhelmed by the other two. And hopefully the US will let their monopoly on power lapse without belligerence.

Montesquieu was right -- the three branches and checks and balances works. Currently our government is frozen and uncompromising because we as an electorate are frozen and uncompromising. The government's actually doing exactly what it's supposed to -- reflecting the will of the people. We are the ones who have to figure out where we want to go.

I am hopeful the plates move a little here and there, otherwise the pressure that builds up might result in a big quake when the move finally happens.

Despite being far left, I want us to trot there, not gallop. :)

Does anybody here seriously believe that when the Iranian mullahs say "death to America" that they don't mean it?

If you do, let me know, I have a few items I'd like you to buy from me......
