You just lost two straight Senate elections and the Presidential went Blue in part because Trump hated McCain. In the aftermath you decide to censure McCain's widow and the only GOPers who have won statewide election recently?

That is one way to become Virginia...a very embarrassing one. My guess is they run McSally to primary Ducey cause she is a true winner!

On Tuesday, The Daily Beast reported that federal authorities have arrested Robert Lemke, a former Air Force captain and sheriff's sergeant who allegedly sent threatening messages to the family of Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the fourth-ranking member of the House Democratic leadership.


"Your brother is putting your entire family at risk with his lies and other words," said Lemke in a text message, according to federal prosecutors. "We are armed and nearby your house ... we are not white supremacists. Most of us are active/retired law enforcement or military." According to the report, Lemke also sent threats to a relative of ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, saying, "We are nearby armed and ready."

The criminal complaint also notes that Lemke's Facebook cover photo was a picture of Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who brandished guns at George Floyd protesters and went on to speak at the 2020 Republican National Convention. The McCloskeys were later indicted for unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with evidence.

Eh. Rounding. Plus I don’t think it’s that unusual. Someone in the comments mentioned that and there were several people who chimes in about their parents or a friend’s parents.

Ducey can't be primaried, he's term limited, so they can just straight run her as nominee.

Or maybe they'll run Steve Doocy as incumbent and assume Republican voters are too dumb to notice.

Dems have to close ranks. The country gave us the keys to stop the Nazis. We have to stop the Nazis now because the next time they get power they will be led, by definition, by somebody smarter, saner, more experienced, more competent, braver, and more appealing.

We have been given one of the greatest lucky breaks in history -- the electoral unseating of Hitler on the eve of the Enabling Acts. We cannot mess this up or the lights will go out everywhere.

Except we know they aren't going to. There is too many Dems who are perfectly fine being a minority party because they don't have the stomach to lead. That is why the Senate is a joke. If it was 50/50 with Pence Mitch would run the Senate like he had 67 votes. The Dems cant fall over each other fast enough to not do what must be done. They have one shot to fix all of this and they couldn't even get a couple of their members to shut up long enough to make it work. Schumer was screwed by his own caucus.

And you are living in a dream world if you think Impeachment is going to have a ton of witnesses. The Dems have been saying since the beginning they don't expect there to be many since the Senators were witnesses themselves. (and it sounds like they are negotiating as such) Well 95% of the GOP "witnesses" voted against even having the trial. They are openly gloating, the game is over the Dems are just playing out the string. The trial will last 3-4 days, the Dems will present all the evidence and the GOP will ignore it and Trump will run again in 2024. Even he knows it that is why he is backing away from a Third Party that is being started in part for him. He is the Republican Party...and they all kiss the ring. That is why 2 weeks before the trial Kaine is looking to get out of it already because an acquittal will be an epic disaster.

I get you want to believe that the good will win...but it almost never does for a reason. It took a World War to stop Hitler and Mussolini and they wreaked havoc for YEARS before that. It took death to stop Stalin. Ideas aren't going to be enough. As long as the Dems are at the mercy of weaklings (we don't need to name who we all know who is screwing the caucus over) they are going to always be in trouble and leading from behind.

This really doesn't capture it. Once you get beyond a few individuals things like "intestinal fortitude" that we all like to tell ourselves about are meaningless. Certainly, different groups attract different types of people. There is for example an enormous gulf right now in intelligence and ethics between Democrats and Republicans. But it's not that the Dems are "weaklings." It's that there are a gazillion crosscurrents and perverse incentives within the party caused by being in different positions (the most obvious being the demography of constituents).

True leadership is the capacity to magnetize enough of those diverse, contradictory iron filings in the same direction that you can actually get things moving for a while. FDR had that, though he also had 60-70% majorities so he didn't have to worry about edge cases.

Right now the motivation is our collective recognition that we are fighting LIVE, ACTUAL NAZIS who will literally, not figuratively, destroy the world if they regain power. And yeah, you'd think that would be enough, but again I would cite Hovey. He's not insane or criminal. He seems like a completely average human being. But he can kid himself that we're all crazy to be making such a fuss over what he thinks is normal politics. Well, if he can do that, then so can lots of our guys. Even though they are pulling for our side lots of our people just cannot face reality. And we have a system that allows people to become comfortably ensconced in their safe places and not face reality until it is too late. Just like the Germans in the 30s.
