GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

HAHA! Shots were 30-29, and we let in 10 goals! That's solid gold :D

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Well it feels pretty good to absolutely mutilate a team but i started to feel bad for tech after a while. Not that long ago i remember wisky going up 5-1 and later 7-3 and it was a helpless feeling. I can't imagine how the tech fans felt today. yeesh.

Meh, the feeling isn't anything new. With most teams, getting embarrassed like this in a major venue would be enough to motivate them to go out and play like a new team. I guarantee you tomorrow we will go out and embarrass ourselves again

it sucks. but we are used to it.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Well, Day 1 was awesome. And, for those who are supposedly lacking social skills, the two engineering schools present were awesome to hang out and cheer with. Congrats RPI on taking out the evil empire tonight, and good luck tomorrow against Sparty.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

yeah, congrats, RPI. Nothing like having your goaltender completely melt down, as well as your #2 ranked PK, come back from two goals down only to lose, having outshot your opponent 46-13. (In all fairness, the GWG was a terrific shot over our diminutive back-up who hasn't played a second all season.)

Give the Spartans all you have, but don't expect any cheap ones tomorrow.

If you have no goaltending you have nothing. Michigan had no goaltending tonight. You failed to mention the refs trying to give the home team the game in the third. Also failed to mention one heck of a goaltending job done by the RPI tender.Go have a beer and cry yourself to sleep.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

MSU-Tech: That was little more than a light skate practice for the Spartans. Apparently the Huskies decided to just mail the season in and ice the club team for the rest of the year. They were even kind enough to bring cardboard cutouts instead of goalies.

RPI-Mich: You have to give all credit to York here. In spite of his Engineers being badly outshot, barely able to clear the puck, and hardly able to put an offensive rush together, York made some big saves to keep his Engineers in the game long enough to pick up the W. On the chances they did get, they were able to take advantage of Hogan's pathetic effort, then score the game-winner on a cold, inexperienced backup to earn a date with the Spartans tomorrow.

You need to do better than that if your attempt was to **** me off.

RPI deserves credit for surviving, if anything, and can thank York for that. They got as many "cheap" calls as Michigan, which you, notice, I didn't moan about. I put the blame squarely where it belonged: on Michigan's goaltending and special teams. But, now that you mentioned it, I think it is funny defending the three calls on RPI's captain. Pretty blatant crosscheck late in the game, to top off his boxtrick. Nice way to show leadership protecting a one goal lead. Can't argue the calls on the 5x3 either- both penalties, but then again...anything to point at a Michigan advantage for you haters.

Don't tell me that Michigan got outplayed except by their opponent's netminder, even if he gave up three goals. RPI will get ragdolled by MSU if they put up 46 shots tomorrow, mostly because they get solid goaltending and play pretty decent defense also, so save your bs.

Now, go pull your lips over your head so you can go kiss your own azz.

It has nothing to do with him being cold, inexperienced, or a backup. It has to do with the fact that he's so freaking short. If Baby Hunwick were more than 5 feet tall, that shot hits his shoulder and doesn't go in.

Having an experienced backup is the coach's fault. Why didn't he get any playing time early in the season?

Did you meet Red Cloud? :D

He's honestly not a Division 1 level goalie. He was going to play for Adrian, but we offered him a spot as a third-string walk-on because his brother used to play on the team.

You know, I seem to recall Sparty being able to use a pretty small goalie and it worked out pretty good for them. ;) :D

Cripes Tech, You're out there in front of the largest number of alumni and other boosters of your Athletic Department and what do ya do?? Sit there while you get your taint's handed to ya. EYE YEY EYE!!!!!!

I didn't realize that he is actually the third-string goalie. Then why wasn't the second-string goalie put in? Is he injured?

Hey now, I think he's 5'5" (listed at 5'7"). Go mini-Hunwick go!

Mini-Hunwick is the second-string goalie this year. Michigan was supposed to have some hot shot goalie recruit Jack Campbell for next year. Difficult to recruit someone to be a 2nd stringer for this year and then 3rd string after that. So this year we're left with Hogan and were all hoping he'd be decent and not get injured.

Michigan's 2nd and 3rd string goalies this year are best known for having older brothers that are/were Michigan hockey captains/good defensemen. (goalies: Shawn Hunwick and Patrick Summers.....brothers of Matt Hunwick and Chris Summers, respectively)
