GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

It was good to see we came out on top last night. Sometimes games go your way, other times they will not. How often have we watched RPI play a good game, but the scoreboard showed otherwise (Last Cornell game comes to mind)
At the end, it's the score that will count and be remembered.
Let's do it again tonight! Go RPI

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

I spent the money to sit at center ice for the one Tech game I would see this year.

I was cautiously optimistic up to the point that Dobson tied it at 1-1.
Tech was outshooting State 8-3 and controlling the territorial play, albeit preventing State from getting started.

Then, the bad goal from the right point and Jamie yanked Genoe. After that the lights went out and it was clear the Tech effort was gone.

The only players I noticed after that were Kivisto, Nielsen, and Brown (the few times he hit the ice)

Where were our leaders when adversity hit. Baker, Dobson, Gwilliam, Olson, and Cousens did little, but dump the puck and offer weak one man rushes after that. No intensity and no team effort. Our coaches played the game, how can they sit there and just watch that. Come on guys, it is your job to prevent that blowout from happening.

In retrospect, I think Jamie should have called a timeout after the bad goal and pumped his team up. I know this season must be killing him as he does have a bit of talent on this team, but is not getting anything out of them.

I was excited to see the freshman to see if there is hope for the coming years for the odd year jump to better fortunes, but I saw nothing from Witt or Pietila that would demonstrate they would be anything more than any of the thousand other recruits that manage 10 points in 4 years.

Schooley and Seigo looked good, but it is clear this team without playing with all out intensity and a workmanlike effort can't compete in Division 1 hockey. Look at what RPI did last night Tech, they battled, got outshot badly, but competed and squeaked out a win.
We never see this in Tech, they just get beat badly or lose in the last 5 minutes of the game.

It sure is frustrating! Tech should get all their leadership together within the athletic program after this season to have a week long seminar on where the hockey program is going. Look at the Bemidji model. To keep from falling to 12th next year, start studying how they are doing it and make some changes now. it is time to re-evaluate and set new direction for the program.
One recruit does not make a team. So Dennis Rix will not change anything.
We need a team to be recruited. A team effort.......

The GLI sure has lost its luster as well. The first night attendance looked like a 3rd place game showing. Tech inclusion is no longer a must for me as what is the point if you cannot put up a competitive effort. I expected to see a competitive game yesterday. I sure did not. Tech could become an invitee and hand the hosting to UM and MSU full time. This would allow the GLI to bring in 2 teams each year. It may boost the GLI as well with a competitive field.

Luckily, the Detroit papers were somewhat kind to Tech and focused their articles on the UM game.

I actually wondered and asked several people if the GLI falling mid week would hurt attendance. That possibly might have something to do with it. The state of the economy can't be helping things too much either.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

You need to do better than that if your attempt was to **** me off.

RPI deserves credit for surviving, if anything, and can thank York for that. They got as many "cheap" calls as Michigan, which you, notice, I didn't moan about. I put the blame squarely where it belonged: on Michigan's goaltending and special teams. But, now that you mentioned it, I think it is funny defending the three calls on RPI's captain. Pretty blatant crosscheck late in the game, to top off his boxtrick. Nice way to show leadership protecting a one goal lead. Can't argue the calls on the 5x3 either- both penalties, but then again...anything to point at a Michigan advantage for you haters.

Don't tell me that Michigan got outplayed except by their opponent's netminder, even if he gave up three goals. RPI will get ragdolled by MSU if they put up 46 shots tomorrow, mostly because they get solid goaltending and play pretty decent defense also, so save your bs.

Now, go pull your lips over your head so you can go kiss your own azz.

you can ramble on all you want your point(s) is moot have fun in the consolation game! hmm and you could also give them credit for BEATING MICHIGAN

Any credit you got for predicting a "tight contest" b/w RPI and Michigan is now gone.

and that is worth how much here?

If Michigan had even nominal goaltending, they win. That is not taking anything away from RPI's effort or luck. York was outstanding, but it is not like he shut them out. On the other hand, you give up at least two soft goals and you most likely won't win.

I also don't know why Appert is complaining about the officiating, either. Michigan forced the play all night, particularly in the third period and got legit calls. If the shoe was on the other foot and Berenson was talking like that, he'd be harpooned for whining. Yes, there is a majority crowd for Michigan and MSU there. Get over it, it's pretty much their tourney with CCHA officials. It's not the first time a team has to overcome that, especially in Regional or FF play.

Thanks for all of the cards and letters, too folks. Appreciate the kind sentiments on my rep. :)

Keep digging. Please.

As long as you and your fans provide the bs, I'll keep shoveling it.

The only BS I've seen are your pathetic claims that you have any degree of respect whatsoever from RPI. But you know what? I don't care whether you respect us or not. Have fun playing at 4.

Whatever. All Michigan fans know that the only team capable of beating Michigan is Michigan. We beat ourselves and the opponents are just lucky to be there on that day and get credit for the win.

Congrats to RPI on the win

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Anyone need a ticket for tonight's game? We have an extra one in section 110 (you would be sitting with RPI fans) Ticket is $22 however would consider a reasonable offer for it.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

RPI's standing in the LoS is tenuous right now. If they win the GLI, we might have to kick them out.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Well three teams showed up to play hockey yesterday and a stoned drunk monkey could tell you who those teams were. RPI played good hockey and if their captain can stay out of the penalty box they should have a shot.

Sorry if I'm repeating things here but I'm on a iTouch and not going to read the rest of the posts

4-3 OT RPI

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

Don't have much ambition to watch tech again today. I will be wearing the Bemidji jersey today :)

Go RPI

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

I didn't realize that he is actually the third-string goalie. Then why wasn't the second-string goalie put in? Is he injured?

Because of the circumstances this year, he's our second best goalie this year, but he wasn't meant to be anything more than a third or fourth stringer. We had a goalie abandon ship a few years ago right after Hunwick came in that would've been our senior back-up (or maybe even starter) this year had he stuck around.

Re: GLI - Watt's the forecast - Troppical Summers or McCleod on the horizon?

That would have been Steven Jakiel. He's playing at D-III Curry right now.

I like that, I am sure that the team agrees with you. The 46 shots were just a figment of our imagination.
The goalie had a rough night, but I didn't think anyone one else on Michigan phoned it in.
In the end, our goalie beat your goalie. Get over it.

Get your sarcasm detector repaired. wT meant no harm.

I think she was mocking Michigan arrogance.
