Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Sounds like it was a great game last night. Wish I could have been there!

I just hope they aren't looking past Potsdam right now, because they always play Geneseo tough. This has the potential to be a big letdown loss if the team doesn't bring its A-Game.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Nice win tonight against Oswego! Now beat Cortland tomorrow night!!!

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Tough start against Cortland. They didn't seem to have their legs and ended up scrambling around a lot. Much better second period. Brickler's goal was a beauty. As the Cortland D-man when around his net with the puck to start the breakout, I heard the goalie say "you've got time"--not when Brickler's on your tail, however. In one fluid motion he lifts the guy's stick, snags the puck, spins to the front of the net, makes one fake, and puts it in the top corner.

Horrigan was stellar once again a well. Lots of poise and confidence.

Stanimir left the ice early with some sort of unjury after running into the boards. He sat on the bech for a while, then left. Not sure how bad it is...

Hampson took a hard slapshot of the foot and it sounded like a gun going off. I thought he was done, but then he appeared later and played out the game.

Agree with all of your points. I think Saturday night's results in both Cortland and Oswego simply showed what a war it was at the Campus Center on Friday night. Geneseo was missing a lot of players and the one's that did suit up did looked pretty tired. Oswego also appeared to be walking wounded and did not play a great game either against Brockport.

As you allude to, the game changed with the play by Brickler. Amazing individual effort to turn the game completely on its ear. It was all Cortland to that point. Geneseo was lucky to have even have the 1 goal at that point. Vit's goal was one the goalie would like back.

I think it's Horrigan's team for the rest of this season barring injury. He's the hot hand.

The injuries are the biggest concern now. The negative is the volume of the injuries, the positive is based on the information I have (which is only the pre/post game shows on the radio) none of them sound to be season ending. May just be things guys will have to play through so we'll have to see how effectively they are able to do so. Heeres said on the post game show that taking Stanimir out was "just a pre-caution" so hopefully he won't miss any time.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Bumping this thread to get it back on the front page where it belongs. It's really tough to beat a team three times in one season, let alone a team like Oswego. But if there ever was an Ice Knights team that could do it, I think this is it. Let's get a win Saturday, stamp our tickets to the tournament, and save ourselves the drama of dealing with the committee.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Gotta give it up to the Ice Knight fans showing up big time this past weekend. Few other threads saying their fans did not represent well so nice that Geneseo supporters packed the IRA. 2,323 and I think everyone of them was there by puck drop and they were loud. Hoping for even more on Satuday. Can we hit 2500? YES WE CAN!

Buff State actually brought a decent amount of fans. Surprisingly, considering they barely have any at their home games, but nice to see they are getting a loyal following and a tip of the cap to those fans that made the trek down I90.

I have no inside information on the matter, but I would highly doubt they would change what they have been doing for the whole year for 1 last game. I realize it is the most important game, but just seems like too many moving parts.

Also I don't think the broadcast is that bad. It is a solid picture from a good angle and the guy follows the play well. I've seen worse for sure. The bummer is that they don't have PBP so hopefully they will add that in the future. Putting the Geneseo radio call over the video shouldn't be too tough (since both entities already exist just separately), but again I doubt they could throw that together in 6 days.

Two microphones would do the trick.....they used to do things that way years ago!!!!

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

I am sure the Oswego radio crew could make that happen in 90 seconds or less #ProfessionalsWithGPAs

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

That's too bad, its a League championship game and the host school can't do better than that? I don't think the picture is that solid and the camera guy doesn't always follow the play. I don't intend to take this out on you, but every other school in the conference with the exception of Cortland has a better quality production. I guess we'll make do with this feed. :(

I do the old link to Wnyo and listen to them anyway, always off a few seconds but it adds to the fun..

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Beyond that... local media like Time Warner Cable Sports should be all over this. They do streaming events, and this one should be a no-brainer. Alas, I digress...

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

I am on board with everyone's comments. I think they should step up their video broadcast for sure - just trying to keep everyone's expectations realistic. Maybe they will make some moves this week and step it up and we can be pleasantly surprised.

While we're on the topic I have been thrilled with Geneseo's radio broadcast this year. I actually turned off the Neumann video because Geneseo's PBP man (Brian McCormack) was painting a much clearer picture with his voice than a grainy/bad angle video. Reminded me of the days before HDTV where radio was actually preferable for some sports (probably baseball the most) when you had good radio call. His color man is his brother (Casey) who played in the EJHL and has great hockey insight coming from the same junior league as a lot of players in SUNYAC.

My recommendation to those who can't make the game is to send some tweets to the @GeneseoHockey or @GeneseoKnights pleading with them for an improved video broadcast. If they get enough maybe they'll try and get something together before the end of the week.

Fantastic! Great work by both schools to make this happen. Continues to build the SUNYAC hockey brand.
