Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Is there any sound with the video?

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

I'm doing that to avoid the commercials. They go off at different times.

Although I'm wondering at times if the camera guy is actually watching the game or sipping on some whiskey.

This week's episode of Knightwatch. A much better video of Collins' goal against Hobart (1:30 in for anyone who wants to skip to that) and other highlights from the Hobart and Adrian games including the zamboni malfunction (5:00 in). Obviously, I'm very disappointed with the Adrian game last night, but the boys pretty much make all the points about what went wrong so I'll let them take if from here...

very nicely done...funny Benny Hill music,I thinkAdrian had to many men on the ice for the zamboni push:D,should have been penalized.

Nice bounce back tonight from the Adrian game. Still some lapses and bad decisions on defense (pinching at bad times, etc.), but an improvement nonetheless. Scharfe's my MVP so far this year. He's been very consistent and the energy level of the team just seems to go up when he's on the ice. Fearless and with a pretty good skill set. He also seems to play well against the tougher opponents.

Agreed on all points. Despite the 7 goal outburst, the biggest difference in last night game was the play of the defensive corps 1 to 6. Much better positioning and neutral zone play. Still room for improvement, but a big step forward from Adrian. I'd give my "quarter pole" MVP to Scharfe as well with Brickler running a close second.

I said a couple of weeks ago that Geneseo had a stretch of 5 games (@Plattsburgh, @Potsdam, @Hobart, vs. Adrian, vs. Oswego) that would show us where they stood. They went 3-2 in that stretch which is pretty respectable, but I don't feel that I really have a handle on them yet. I'll need to see a larger sample size of good play from the D-men before I would put them with the top tier teams.

I think tonight is going to be much more of a challenge than one may think. Haven't seen Cortland play yet, but their record and stats are pretty strong so far. Geneseo hung 10 on them in their barn back in January so you know they will be hungry. We also saw what happened last time Geneseo was coming off a big win.

For anyone who didn't know tonight is also the 3rd annual "Teddy Bear Toss" game. So bring a toy to throw on the ice after the first goal to be donated to local orphanages.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Shameless thread bump!

The Ice Knights are taking care of business, which is nice to see. I would argue the most important thing in this league is to beat the teams you are supposed to beat with consistency, and they have done exactly that, the only blemishes on their record being losses to the consensus #1 and #2 teams in the country. Not bad! Hopefully they can keep it up in the second half of the season.

Does anybody know if the game at Frontier field this weekend will be streamed online? I'd love to watch from afar.

I'm not aware of any video streaming for this game. Even though I'd imagine this will go down in the record books as a "neutral site" game it is a shade more of a Nazareth home game as it was scheduled as a Nazareth home game before the teams decided to participate. Geneseo still has their home game at the IRA of the home and home series they have been playing for the 2 years of Nazareth's existence. I know Geneseo's video crew does games at the IRA, but I am not aware of them travelling even short distances (Brockport, Naz, or Hobart) to stream the game. I could be wrong though. I'm going to the game so I haven't really had to worry about it. Hope you find a way. Otherwise check it out on WGSU for the audio!

As far as the first half of Geneseo's SUNYAC schedule. Certainly would have to give them a solid A for the 7-1 record. I'd go A+ if they'd beaten or even tied Plattsburgh, but they've put themselves in great position for the second half of the season and playoff positioning. I'm looking forward to the 7 non-conference games between now and their resumption of SUNYAC play on January 31st against Plattsburgh (That one is going to be kind of big  )

Thought this past weekend Geneseo was really big for the overall development of the team as both nights they faced adversity of sorts. On Friday, they faced a team that (as usual) had the mindset that "if you can't beat them, play dirty." Geneseo didn't retaliate or play their game. They kept cool heads and skated to a 3-0 road shutout. I expected a little more of an offensive showing from Buff State. Maybe Buff State wore themselves out trash talking and didn't have the energy to shoot the puck? On Saturday, they found themselves down on the road going into the 3rd period. 2 third period goals and a solid defensive period got them a solid win going into the SUNYAC break.

I'm very excited for the outdoor game. Should be a great spectacle and all of the pictures the rink and stadium look amazing. On paper Geneseo looks to be a better team, but with the unfamiliarity of the location and the elements that won't come into play indoors I am prepared for any result just happy to see Geneseo participating and marketing the program effectively. Current forecast is high of 28 degrees with a 60% chance of snow.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

In an extremely rare Thursday game:

Geneseo 3 - Neumann 2
FINAL

First 2 periods were all Geneseo (SOG were 27-7) but they only had a 2-1 lead. 3rd was controlled by Neumann, but they couldn't find the net. Geneseo got an ENG to get the 3-1 lead with a minute left and Neumann scores with 15 seconds left.

Just a bit of housekeeping for anyone going to tonight's game against Hamilton:

Tonight's game is being played at Clinton Arena. This will be the Continentals first game there since New Years Eve 2012. I had never been to any game at Hamilton so I had to do the leg work of looking up directions anyway, but I didn't want any Geneseo (or Hamilton) fans who were just sort of "on auto-pilot" to go to the wrong rink.

Wish I could make it to Hamilton tonight, but I've got my own game this evening.

Looking forward to Naz. on Saturday.
