Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Well, jhm, I'd be in for Ugly Jersey Day. I'd propose Friday, since the places we'll be at don't/won't have a "dress code." But I'm up for whatever.

Scarlet, wish I could help, but not familiar enough with the area to recommend anything. And as for Tuesday, I'd still be in for goldy331/you/me/whoever meeting up.

I think MNS is single, and he has low standards too. Could be almost a sure thing for you! :D

As soon as I posted that, I knew someone was going to post something like that. I just didn't know who would say that about whom.

We're up for heading into Minneapolis - how far is it? Sounds like it's not too far. Sounds good for Tuesday. goldy emailed me - I'll respond back.

Cool. You can email me through here, FB message me, or use Brenthoven at gmail. Mpls isn't too far at all. The old saying in MN goes "You're 20 minutes from anything, and 2 minutes from water." :D

During non-rush hour times, you can get to downtown Minneapolis from cake-eater town in about 20 minutes. If you don't want to drive all the way in for whatever reason, you can also just go east on the crosstown and dump the car off at the Fort Snelling park and ride lot to take the light rail into downtown. This option is about 10 minutes away, and the train ride is about 15 minutes.

Anyone know of a place to stay on that weekend? :D

I sure hope my friend is up for being my hotel that weekend. She lives in St.Paul, in the highland park/summit sort of area. Cab rides would be pretty cheap.

... if you know what I mean.
“If I wanna get the money, I’m not allowed to conduct any personal experiments, if you know what I mean.”
“Joey, we always know what you mean.”

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Not a chain. I'd go for a nice Italian place or a nice steak house, but not the Ruth's Chris level. I'd say entrees in the $20-$25 range.
I figured, but just thought I'd throw it out there.:)
I've always been a fan of Cossetta's. Might not be exactly what you're looking for but I've always loved their food. Mancini's is a fine place for steak.

For italian, Cosetta's is authentic and it's a St. Paul tradition too.:)

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I just checked Ticketmaster and you can still buy single seat packages to the Frozen Four. I thought it would be a sellout prior to this.

They offered me Section 220, Row 2. I wasn't buying though, just browsing since it was in my email.

I'd be in for Tuesday. Just keep me posted on a plan.

I live in Minneapolis so I guess I can't complain that its too far away. :D

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Minneapolis. it is a bit spendy though...

Scarlet - I'd recommend going into Uptown where there are plenty of non-chain restaurants in the price range you mentioned. Chiang Mai Thai, Amazing Thailand, Chino Latino, Stellas, El Mason, Sushi Tango, if you like good blues (you should eat elsewhere) music Famous Daves brings in some talent depending upon the night of the week and there are plenty of bars in the area as well.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

A 2nd for Mancini's. No-nonsense but very good and much less than a place like Manny's or Ruth's Chris. Cherokee (St. Paul's lower west side or Eagan) is pretty good too, though the Eagan location is a little supper-clubbish.

Cossetta's is very good but it's cafeteria style so if you're looking for a sit down place I'd keep looking. Don't get me wrong, it's very good but it may not be what you're after. Pazzaluna may be a good downtown St. Paul option as would DiGidio's (just down the street from Mancini's) on W. 7th. for old fashioned heavy red sauce type of place. Ristorante Luci (St. Paul's Highland Park neighborhood, near St. Thomas) is really good if you're looking for a little more upscale Italian but not too expensive.
