Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Taxi from dowtwn Mpls to Excel Engery Center: ~$35
Use 7th & Kellogg as the intersection for the X.

http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Minneapolis

That has to be wrong. It was about $45 from my place to the X, and it's about $30 or so from my place to downtown Mpls (live near Ridgedale; for the non-locals, it's about 20 minutes from downtown Mpls). That's been in the past couple months.

Edit: if you do take a cab, best thing to do is get up to 7 people, and request a minivan cab. I believe it's the same rate, and it would lessen the cost per person.

Should be about 20-25 for Downtown to the X

Where's that Edina guy? What's-his-name. Oh yeah: goldy! :D

Hey goldy! Scarlet asked about Edina restaurants, and about Italian places. What about Arrezzo, at 50th and France? I've never been -- only to Salut across the street -- but I've always heard it was good. Have you been?

Arrezzo is pretty good, but Ciao Bella closer to the Westin might be a little better. It's been a while since I've gone to either, but that's how I remember them (I know the Italian the Mrs. used to work with preferred Ciao Bella). I would encourage her to go to the 50th and France area and try one of the restaurants. All are pretty good and a great selection. Edina Grill, Salut, Arezzo, the new Barrio and Pizza Mio are both supposed to be pretty good, although I haven't tried either yet.

She can stop at General Sports too and pick up an

If you are interested Scarlet, I can probably talk the family into going out one of the evenings and meet you at a restaurant, or even pick you up at the Westin (the kid is always up for visiting the Barnes and Noble store and Schmidt Music next door). Didn't know if you'd be going out with your colleagues and/or clients.

You overpaid.

There is a chance he had been drinking and his judgment was impaired.;)

NOOOOOO!!!

My guess is he went with the wrong cab company...at certain companies (I wont say their name and ruin a good thing) they might not even turn on the meter. :D

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

After reading most of the posts, my wife and I are excited that St Paul will be our first Frozen Four! Looking forward to eating and drinking our faces off, haha. Thanks for all of the information everyone. Now we just have to figure out who to root for :)

Actually, we used fare finder to make sure we weren't ripped off. And fare finder estimations were more than we paid. So there! And Handy, of course certain companies won't turn on the meter if you're going to a strip club. The club re-imburses them. I didn't know you were a naughtybar kinda guy. :p

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I should try and get next Friday off. Hmm...

You....you....haven't yet?! I asked for this next week off before I even considered the F5 week(end)!

Gasthof's will be involved next Fri, and even though that is after work hours, that just means you'd have to catch up. :D

I'm not...they didnt turn on the meter when I went to Target Field, or the Dome, or Kierons, or the Local...

Then help a brother out! We've found that Suburban (the green and white) have the most reliable, cheapest, funnest drivers. I do have to be honest, I've ridden in more cabs in the past year than I have in my lifetime previous to this past year. :o

Edit: although going to the F5 2 years ago (?) we had a Suburban driver make a right turn from the left lane, running a red light, because in his words, "I ain't waiting around for this sh*!" :D

Of the places to call Green and White is by far the best...half the time they know the shortest route and from my apartment to the Local a few weeks back he never turned on the meter and I know he undercut the rate. When I am at home I call them, the more you do the more the guys will hook you up.

Never, and I mean never use Blue and White...they suck.

As for other secrets, if you flag down most cabs near a bar past 10 you can usually find a guy who will be very very nice to you because he wants a nice tip ;)

As for bolded, we know that much. We illegally had more than capacity the last time, it was all good. But given where I live (and prob the most centric to others/closest to DT) I guess we need to utilize the cabs more often.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I got the Frozen 4 tickets in the mail yesterday, well, 4 of them. The other one is coming with jmh. I have way too much money tied up in tickets right now...$800 for 4 Frozen 4 tickets, $650 for 13 Twins home opener tickets, and $200 for 4 Toby Keith tickets @ MN State Fair.
