Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

That's fine. I am debating the tie myself. Depends on what style I want to go with.

Wait, you should wear a bolo! That is ultimate hick!
Nah, I think I'll class it up non-country style saturday night. Friday and Thursday on the other hand...th hat and boots may be in play.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Were you born a d*uchebag? Or did you pick it up at St. Cloud? Just curious.

COL! Oh, I was certainly born this way, have no doubt in you mind about that. The thing is, with your response, that tells me I was also right. :D

This is from my birthday 2 weeks ago :)

You look like a man who's on a mission to find a pimp.:)

Mickey's you can go to for any meal ;) Plus Mickeys is like 2 blocks from the X :)

I've only been to Key's a few times, but the Italian hash is really good. Portions are ridiculously huge.

And for you Easterners coming to town, you should be happy. This entire town will feel like it's on sale compared to the prices you're used to paying. So you can't complain about the value.

mookie, Hell's Kitchen is in the building across Marquette Ave from where you're staying, Marquette Ave is the street where the valet service for the W operates. The building in which Hell's Kitchen resides probably has a 9th St address, based upon where its parking ramp entrance and the building's marquee are.

ISSUE NUMBER ONE
Ristorante Luci (St. Paul's Highland Park neighborhood, near St. Thomas) is really good if you're looking for a little more upscale Italian but not too expensive.

That's a fantastic restaurant, and about as close to The North End in the feel of the place (tiny inside, family run, all about the food) as anywhere within 500 miles. However --

I'm sure they are and when I'm in St. Paul for the FF I will certainly look into them. It's just that my question was about a place for dinner when I'm in Edina on Monday night. :)

-- Luci ain't open on Mondays.

ISSUE NUMBER TWO
I have been waiting 25 1/2 years to try a Jucy Lucy.
Alrighty.... I just wiki'd Jucy Lucy and ... can't wait!

I will be the only Minnesotan who says this I'm sure. Jucy Lucys are HORRIBLY overrated.

That's because all they are is a great bar burger. It's like chowder in Boston -- if you hear it talked up, you might think it's a freaking orgasmic experience. It's just a nice bowl of soup. (You still have to try it, tho'.)

ISSUE NUMBER FOUR
Now I'm tempted to dress up as well.

I'm a fan of bar burgers. The Anchor Bar in Superior is becoming my favorite place in the Twin Ports, and it is your quintessential hole-in-the-wall bar that just happens to make one mean burger. It was there that the seed to try a Jucy Lucy during F4 was planted. I'm not expecting gourmet.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I dont understand the love of the Blue Door...the place seats like 5 people (it makes the Nook look cozy and spacious) and the burgers are not better than Shamrocks. Do people really want peanut butter in their burger that much?

Blue Door is better than the Minneapolis joints no doubt but Shamrocks is the beez kneez ;) I mean any place that has the "Joe Mauer Double Play Burger" is a-ok in my book :D

We've been getting our orders at the Blue Door to go (it is a hassle to eat in though I've heard rumors from a friend who works there a 2nd location may be in their near future) where it's all about The Blucy & The Classic, the Blucy is dam near the best buger I've ever had. :) The others I've tried don't do much for me. Their deep fried cheese curds are also the bomb. :) My complaint about both Shamrock/The Nook and the Blue Door is the fries, don't care for them at either place.

One word of warning (at least IMHO), the original 5-8 is 100X better than the Oakdale location.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I forgot the 5-8 had another location...that place has to suck :p

The fries are like crack...overcooked, oversalted and overgreased...over awesome :D

Since the Nook went down I have been trying the different burgers Shamrocks has...the West 7th is delicious and the Goop Burger was very very very good :)

Blue Door to go makes sense...I know dorm rooms with more seating capacity :p

Everytime I read this, I'm thinking y'all are heading to the blue grotto....

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I have never been to Smalleys...Kierons and Huberts though rock the house :) (Jameson Chicken Sandwich FTW!)

Let me know :)

Smalley's has impressed me everytime I've been there. The Royal Burger (?) is a pretty good burger to get after a night of drinking at Target Field. Roy Smalley actually stops by relatively often and chats everyone one. Good times.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

I have heard that...and rumor was a lot of the players would go there after as well. Post game I never really stuck around...we pregamed :D

Isn't the Royal Burger a Big Mac, hold the McD's and triple bun?

I like their chicken carbonarra. It's not phenomenal, but it is good, and a little spicier than any other chicken carbonarra I've ever had. the lunch portion is perfect.

i believe you are confusing that with the 'royale with cheese' :D
