First official thread of Nazareth hockey

Re: First official thread of Nazareth hockey

Any thoughts on where they might play? Is there even an outside shot of them using Ritter at RIT, or am I just being greedy? I know that ice time would be tight with 3 hockey teams and the figure skating club.

I doubt Nazareth would want to be fourth fiddle for ice time at the Ritter. Not a promising aspect for a future recruit and starting up a program.

Re: First official thread of Nazareth hockey

If you look @ the picture of George Roll on the front page of USCHO, is that an NCAA ice hockey championship trophy over his right shoulder???

Re: First official thread of Nazareth hockey

Wanted to move this thread back to the top. For those in the area, any new developments? Have they determined the site of their home rink? Any word on early recruiting efforts?

Thanks

Re: First official thread of Nazareth hockey

I think that Nazareth needs to look at LVC as how NOT to go about recruiting. George has a good knowledge of the CJHL (or whatever it's name is now) and the OPJHL. If he can throw in a local kid or two from the EJHL team in Rochester, he may have a decent (but very young) team to start.

There will be some growing pains, no doubt, until he gets a full 4 years of recruiting. Hopefully not 24 - 0 growing pains, but there will be painful, even ugly, losses. I'm not sure what kind of travel budget he'll have, but if Nazareth wins 5 games in year one, especially playing conference games in the ECAC-W, George (and the players) will deserve major kudos.

Next up on the expansion rumor board - Stevenson College (Baltimore) (which would give the ECAC-W the magic 7 and cut Pool C down to 2).

Really!!!!!!! That would be cool as their campus it 10 minutes from me. I can come out and be obnoxious in my Purple and Gold gear!!!! :D

And welcome Nazareth! :)

Re: First official thread of Nazareth hockey

Looks like Naz will be playing at the Sports Centre at MCC. News reports say it's 2,300 seats; Wikipedia claims 2,500. I've been there and the bleachers don't even go all the way around; I'm wondering if the 2000+ total is for all four sheets. Anyone know the capacity of just the main rink?

Anyway, congrats to Naz on being accepted into the ECAC West!

Come on, goalies never wear number 7. (Jesus is a goalie, of course; haven't you seen the bumper stickers that say "Jesus Saves"?)

You don't see that many Spanish players, but he does seem to be a popular goalie - I've seen many of his bumper stickers!!

I hear he has had some on ice issues. He keeps turning the ice into wine and its caused the rink thousands. Apparently he didn't know how to turn wine back into water. I say he might wear 12 for the 12 apostles, that or 99 which was what his father wore.

Many years ago I saw a car with a bumper sticker on 1 side of the trunk lid that said "Jesus Saves" On the other side another said "Esposito picks it up and SCORES!!!"

That might explain why Esposito co-founded the "Lightning"
