Michigan jumped on them early and Guptill sniped a short-side snapper within the first six minutes. Difference was, FSU wasn't getting anything going- they got smothered. In the second, Michigan scored three times although Motte was standing on his head. The third period was lackluster both ways. I think Michigan made a concerted effort to check tighter and didn't allow a PP goal on 4-5 chances (?)- haven't looked at the boxscore. Things got a little chippy late in the game but nothing came of it. Officials did a decent job.

Two things. Glad to hear we are still ranked in the top 10 coming it at #10. 2nd thing, this Bowling Green series could be a tough one. BG has a very young squad and their coach has made some major changes. Samuels-thomas one of BGs best players has left the team, and basically BG is trying to start over. They have played some pretty good hockey thus far and their goalie is no sleeper. This being said i expect a big bounce back from the Dawgs and expect Ouellette and Bonis to get back on track.
Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life
This is a very big series for the bulldogs. They need to defend their high ranking. BG is a much improved team this year, they are going to be tough to beat. Can't wait for the weekend!!!!
Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life
Well, they bounced back nicely -> one more to go this weekend! From a quick glance at the box score it looks like jordie, thompson, wysopal, and graham were pretty dominant. If we can keep a few more guys besides oullette/bonis/alexander/billins scoring we will be in good shape. Highlights Dom?
Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life
It's pretty incredible that after 10 games and an 8-2 record, we don't really know how good this team is. I think we know they are not great based on the Michigan series. And we definitely know they are not bad. The combined record of the opponents Ferris has beaten is 10-24-1 so they haven't beaten a good team yet...But that being said, they are winning ALL of the games they are supposed to win. In the past, Ferris would have split against a team like BGSU, but this Ferris team seems to be handling their business nicely. So where do they fit in between bad and great? I think we will find out in the next two weekends.

Ferris and Alaska should provide for a nice weekend. Most of us up here are still shocked by our terrible start. I hope we can start to turn things around this weekend. -40 last night, so maybe your boys will be cold shocked!
Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life
Alaska is always a tough roadtrip, so coming out of Alaska with at least three points would be nice. I'm not as concerned with the CCHA as I am nationally, so a win and a tie would suffice.

On a football note, FSU has let go of Coach Pierce. Might not be a total firing, maybe just releaving him of HC duties and putting him elsewhere in the AD office perhaps.

The dawgs need to get back in the W column this coming weekend. Sounds like Western played really tough this weekend. The rallied on friday, and took control on special teams on saturday.
