I have been attending college hockey games since the early 90's. The game on saturday was hands down the roughest I have ever seen. It is amazing that no one was seriously hurt. Both teams were flying and looking for blood.

The team defense for the bulldogs was outstanding. They were covering the passing lanes, quick sticks. They had two or three terrible give a ways in the third, but Mott was standing on his head! Miami can really move the puck but the ferris was all over them.

That was big test this weekend, but next weekend is even bigger. U of M is as good or better than Miami, but being at yost, they will be even harder to beat!!! I hope the dawgs continue to rotate the goalies. That will be a great experience for CJ if he can play at the level he has been, at yost!! Go dawgs!!

Slow and steady wins the race.

Thursday and Friday night series this week. I don't recall one of these before, I'm assuming it's for TV purposes unless Yost has the circus in town. I'm fine with Thursday hockey as long as it's televised! Does anyone know where this Comcast channel can be found on Charter Cable in Big Rapids? Maybe Casey McNabb's will have it on.

Unfortunately Charter can not/will not carry anything on the Comcast network. Try justintv.com on the day/time of the games. I'm screwed as well as I live in Charter territory.

One of the keys to beating Michigan is to get in Hunwick's face, He's a hothead and he'll blow if enough pressure is put on. His MO is to throw a few punches and it now appears the CCHA refs are on to him. Northern did a good job with him and WMU did too at the Joe last March.

Rankings this early in the season are nice, but really don't matter as much as rankings at the end of the season. If Mecosta County Community College can be in the top ten heading into the CCHA playoffs, then that would be something to boast about. ;)

Highest ranking I can ever remember Ferris having, but there is a lot of season left, and the ratings really don't mean much. (Thankfully, hockey isn't a joke sport like BCS football)

Team looks REALLY good at this point. This series at Yost will be very interesting. With Motte playing out of his mind and a very solid Taylor Nelson, you always have a shot.

Looking at the box score, I see a Ferris penalty for throwing the stick. That's the first time I've come across that one.

I can tell you what happened there. Nelson was headed to the bench for an extra skater at the same time Michigan took control of the puck and was headed for a certain ENG. Nelson gave a good chase, but let the stick go at the end, too late.

I was a little disappointed tonight. We're certainly not a #6 team, as least the way we played tonight. It also confirmed a suspicion I had that a good part of our 6-0 start was due to strength of schedule, or lack thereof. St. Lawrence appears to be bad, and while the RPI series will likely turn out to look pretty nice at the end of the season, I'm wondering about Miami.

Also, there were a few Ferris fans towards the bottom of Section 10 that showed a lot of passion and energy. Take a bow, guys. You did good tonight.

On the radio it sounded like FSU certainly had their chances but seemed to let the back end slip out of their control. Out shooting the Wolverines at Yost is an even bigger rarity then beating them. We'll try to steal one from them tomorrow night.

Ferris had chances, but they did not do a good enough job possessing and controlling the puck in front of Hunwick. Too many times the puck would end up along the boards and shortly thereafter end up on a Michigan stick going the other way. Once Michigan scored first, we weren't really in this game.

I'm not going to fault Nelson, either. The first goal was on the power play, Nelson was completely screened and had less than zero chance on the 2nd goal (and it was tipped), and the 3rd one hit the inside pipe of the net. It was one of those that just didn't look right when it went in.

I will say this. Jordie Johnston's goal to cut it to 4-2 was a pure thing of beauty. That was probably one of the top 5 goals I've ever seen Ferris score.

Ugly monkey.... such bad treatment to the fans you have.... ;)

Anyway, couple of comments- it's pretty clear that your team is a LOT faster than it has been in some time. And it's not one or two players, but everyone. More than once, what would have been icing in the past was not, thanks to the Ferris forwards way out skating our D.

Second- I still dig your throwback style "away" sweaters.

I Would argue that Billins goal Was prettier than Jordies goal. Pretty much end to end. Jordies goal was nice but just a typical PP goal.
