Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

He's probably the same bum that does the FSU football games as well.

Just for reference's sake (forgive me if this was in joke), Jason DaDay is the PA announcer and acts on instruction from the athletic department. He also is the radio play-by-play for football and most home basketball games.

The asking of the chants was in coordination of cheerleaders holding up signs, and I'm sure on the direction of his superiors.

Again, forgive if the criticisms were made in joke.

Yes, Jason is the PA announcer and acts on instruction from the athletic department. This was a written announcement he had to do as part of his job. He is a really good PA announcer, and way better than anyone else they have tried out.

So, why are they having those forced, coordinated cheers lead by the PA guy done across the FSU brand? They always sound so **** cheezy. I'm all for cheers to be lead by cheerleaders, the band or even a fan group perhaps, but the PA guy leading them on, its just cheezy.

Probably because this many students haven't been in attendance since the 2002-03 season and don't know how to cheer or what to even cheer for. All I'm saying is that before the game on Friday is there was a handout printed off for the students that had the chants and situations they were to be used! Um, doubt this has to happen anywhere else?!?! It isn't that hard to catch on to some student section chants if you've been going for awhile...

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Actually, I think some student sections do something like that, but don't hold me to that. Besides, you really don't want me teaching the students what we did in the mid-90's, do you? :D

I have no problem with creative marketing, but there is a difference between that and turning the Ferris hockey experience into something somewhere between a monster truck rally and treating your fanbase like we all have a 10th grade mentality.

I agree. You want tooshes in the seats, keep winning. Doesn't matter if it is Ferris, Michigan or MSU, that is the main ingredient. Once you have the fanbase back, though, putting on "slapshot" type antics will only lessen the experience. It won't add one more ticket to the till.

Agreed. It's gotta be organic. If you win, they will come.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Sooooo, USCHO says that the games this weekend are at 7:35 and 5:05 but the Ferris site says they are both at 8:05. What is the truth? And what the heck is CBS College Sports? Does anybody get that channel?

I think both games are at 8pm starts due to the CBS College Sports satellite coverage (DirecTV 613 (need sports package). They purchased the old CSTV that started college hockey coverage 5 years ago or so.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

You're right alnike.

Both games have been moved back to 8:00pm due to the National Television Coverage from CBS College Sports. Here is the list of channels that I know of:

Channels:
Dish Network - Channel 152
DirecTV - Channel 613
Comcast – Channel 734
Charter – Does not carry CBS College Sports

The people that conjure up crap like this need to pay attention to how a game is done at Yost and Munn, as well as other places that have successful programs across the country. We're a Division I collegiate program. Let's act like one, shall we?

I wouldn't model your atmosphere after sparty, munn is quiter than most libraries on campus...

As a last second confirmation for the Friday game- got an e-mail from the ticket office, and they also noted the 8:05 start time, as well as mgoblue.com.

If you are coming to AA, have a safe trip!

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

is it February already?

I'm glad I had a 50 minute drive home to cool down.

The defensive effort and the goaltending are hereby absolved of any blame for tonight's results. The offense in general, and the power play in particular, on the other hand, were absolutely pitiful, hideous and horrendous tonight. Next year, when Chupp, Riley and Lewicki are gone, and if Redmond does jump ship (as someone speculated earlier), I have no idea what the **** we're going to do offensively. We might not score 50 goals next season. No one had any idea what to do with the puck whatsoever this evening, and when they finally did get an idea, the play in mind was about 10 seconds too late. The 5 x 3 in the 1st period where we spent about 92 seconds ****ing down our legs, well, that killed us tonight. Outside of the post we hit in the 2nd period, I had no hope at all that we would score tonight.

As for Michigan being one of the big boys, well, not this year. The posters in the know in the Michigan thread have their team well-pegged. This is not a vintage Michigan team. Ferris had plenty of speed to skate with Michigan all night. The difference was the puckhandling. Michigan converted two scoring opportunities while Ferris found every way under the sun to squander any scoring threats.

I haven't looked at the PWR, but I'm sure I'm not going to like what I see. Must win tomorrow night in Ewigleben or we're going to slide quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

12th in the PWR. From a #1 seed two weeks ago to a bubble team. Holy crap. I knew it wasn't going to be pretty, but I didn't think it was going to be quite that bad.

We hit 10 games vs. TUC tonight and now that record kicked into the comparisons. Root like hell against Alaska for now. The hell with the CCHA title. That ship sailed last weekend.

The great momentum we had to start the season could easily slip away if we're not careful.

No, there is no way in h3LL that this is a "vintage" Michigan team, I never claimed that they were. However, you must consider that this is a horrendously down year for Michigan and they still shut you out. Michigan ain't that hott this year, but their very name makes them a "Big Boy"...

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

One barely game related thing- Ferris- I really liked your away Jersies. They look quite sharp and classy.

Odd as that sounds, I'm really not kidding.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Hey Guys,

Does anyone have a conact at CBS College Sports? Maybe we could/should all send them an E-Mail/Call them and thank them for showing college hockey and request more games shown for next season?

What do you guys think?

I think that you are justified in your comments about the offense. They looked totally uninterested in the third period, and Michigan was just as content to sit back, too. They made it interesting in the last five minutes... pop one there and Michigan would have deflated.

Give some credit to that "untypical" Michigan team, though. Ferris may not have been sharp on that 5x3, but there was a good reason. Michigan had few defensive breakdowns last night, and were going to protect that two goal lead. Hogan also made the stops he had to, including some dandy toe stops in the third period.

I suspect that Daniels (and his veiled comments about the offense) will have them rolling tonight in BR. They seem to be a much stronger, confident team there, sans last weekend. I'll be happy taking any points up there.

I think Comcast should include it on there regular package, first. I'm not paying $10.00-$15.00 a mo. extra to get this channel to watch girls lacrosse, swimming and underwater chess. If they showed a game or two a week I might be interested.
