Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Just one other thing? Isn't head hunting someone's head going to result in a pretty severe penalty? It seems like h any type of contact to the head is a penalty its getting called frequently and quickly this season.

I mean I don't know, seems like people would always be "targeting" people's injuries in all sports then. Weekly injury reports tend to give these things away at other places and for all sports. I've watched Michigan football my whole life for example, and read about injuries that coaches disclose on Wednesday's before games, and I've never seen anyone just blatantly try to go after someone's injury that was listed on the report. I'm just saying...

We're dealing with CCHA officiating here. Who knows what's going to get called on any given night. McInchak absolutely swallowed his whistle last Friday at Yost.

That's a good point too, but I just think that a team's game plan doesn't revolve around trying to take out someone that they read about on a message board. I guess I just don't see a scenario like "D2: The Mighty Ducks" when coach Wolf Stansson goes after Coach Bombay's knee happening.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Well played on the D2 reference. Thanks. I needed that laugh this early in the morning.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

My pleasure. I'm glad someone enjoyed reading it as much as I did posting it. Really got my Friday rolling too.

Well in all seriousness now, I'll be leaving for the weekend for obligations at home and won't be able to read people's thoughts on the games this weekend down at OSU so I'll see what people have to say briefly this morning... how big is this series? Would it be a disappointment to come away without a sweep?

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I suppose that it depends on how you define a "big" series. I wouldn't be surprised if we split, or if we sweep Ohio State, due solely to the fact that it's a road series. I think we're the better team, but funny things can happen on the road.

I think there are bigger series than this one looming ahead. LSSU, Northern Michigan and the home and home against MSU come to mind. Right now it's just a matter of holding serve and maintaining our PWR and top 3 standing in the CCHA. I don't want to go sliding into that #4 spot because then the 1st round bye becomes precarious.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I know T.J. and he knows what he is talking about, but if your brother told you something else well then share it.

I don't necessarily agree here. If you are given inside information on something, with the implicit understanding that it stays confidential, then the poster in question has no business posting such info. It's kind of "what is said here, needs to stay here, when you leave here" sort of thing.

I'm privvy to a lot of information along those lines regarding another program, and I will never reveal any of that on this board, or anywhere else for that matter, because that was said in confidence. And no, I will not comment further on that last sentence.

I hope the Dawgs are taking this series as lightly as their fans... :D
If OSU plays to their potential it could certainly result in a sweep for the home team. Big Rapids is an extremely difficult place to play and the Friday butt whooping that OSU took earlier this season is unlikely to be repeated in Columbus. Ferris was lucky on Sat that OSU was so undisciplined late in the game. Water under the bridge, though, and OSU has been playing more disciplined hockey lately (CCHA refereeing notwithstanding). Ferris continues to play a very dynamic, teamwork-emphasizing game (impressive). Should be a great series either way. I predict split with Ferris winning Friday and OSU winning Saturday (the Buckeyes continue to come out flat on Fridays - what the heck?).

I understand where you are coming from, and agree. There is a lot of info that shouldn't be shared, but I just don't see injuries as confidential though. Like listed above already it's like football injury reports. Do you think U-M would have come out with a different game plan if they read on here last week that Wietecha and Chupp were not playing? No, and thats why info like that isn't a big deal IMO.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Wow!! Lets settle down Dom,

I know T.J. and he knows what he is talking about, but if your brother told you something else well then share it. Don't even try the "Dom? Who is Dom?" Sorry, but your secret is coming out. I've been reading this board for months waiting for you to slip. There are several posters here who have talked about this in person, and also know the facts (and I can prove these facts). You have at least 3 usernames (FerrisStateHockeyFan, CCHAfan, and DomHennig). If you're "going to the NHL early" like FerrisStateHockeyFan (AKA you) claims it's time to grow up!!

Hate to call you out, but it needs to be done. You do a lot of good by promoting and bringing excitement to our listeners, but the other half of you acts extremely immature, but hey thats what 18 year olds do I guess.

Not going to say Who's Dom, considering he is our Radio Play-by-Play broadcaster. Nice try on that one though, secondly I think it's funny you think our radio guy has three usernames. Priceless what people in chat rooms come up with.

To continue to add to your "logic" or "intellect"..."but if your brother told you something else well then share it. "

Wouldn't our Radio Guy know the inside logic from...Interviewing the coach's? Being in the locker room, on the road with the team, and everything else. The last source would come from his brother.

Good try though, if you would like to meet me in person, I would be glad too. Welcome to the chat rooms though Ewigleben, your first post already starting stuff. Maybe you are a person who has more than one account?

Hey that's a good thing though. I can never get in trouble for what I say, it all goes onto Hennig :D

Hey Guys,

I sent Ross an E-mail and below was his response:

*Taken down my CBS College Sports*

Isn't that convenient? Funny the response you got from Ross started with "Dear Dom", but CBS "took it down". I'm sure CBS really had a problem with an email posted on here that started out thanking them. Why wasn't any of the other CBS contacts taken down? Hmmm...

I'm fine for meeting my friend I'll be at the rink next weekend probably before you. I know where to find you after all. I'm not here to start trouble just to prove a point. See you soon "Mark Stevenson" (You know what that means).

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

CCHAFan, unless you are a different Dom, you posted the response you got from the CBS Sports guy here, and if I am not mistaken, it said 'Dom,' at the beginning.

I don't really care, to be honest, but if you do happen to be the radio guy, it's best that you keep one username and don't try to cover it up with other names.

On the topic of hockey, I believe that Ferris can sweep the series this weekend if they play solid hockey. Penalties have been hurting Ferris lately. They got away from them during their nice win streak but there have been a lot of lazy penalties of late. Ferris also doesn't seem to play very well on the road, but I always look at that Miami series and say anything is possible. They also played two games well at Notre Dame, so it's hard to tell. I wouldn't be surprised with a split or a sweep of OSU. Ferris is a good hockey team. I don't think they are great, but they are a very solid team.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Hey Guys, Lol you all make me laugh. For a funny story, (I am not getting in between you guys arguing on here) I know of ONE listener in the building during our home games. He brings a headset radio and listens to all the games. I went to introduce myself to him after the second game when I noticed it. His name is Dominic ;). But for others reading this, please do not confuse other posters statement's on here and writing content with my name, as it can result in a lot of trouble.

But for the real information, below are this week's important facts to stay in touch, hope you all can listen:

I agree with that completely. If I would have thought the information in question was confidential I would have left it as that. I apologize that I may have offended anyone by saying he had a concussion. This was just what I heard on campus during the week. If I was wrong and he did not miss the game because of that, then I take responsiblity in commenting on a false rumor I heard on campus.

I will only post statistics that I know to be true here in the future since I do know for sure I will have the correct information regarding those facts.

Regarding hockey information. I agree with Hammer on those upcoming series being "bigger" I am looking at the OSU series to see if Ferris can mantain the momentum from last Saturday's win against Michigan. Either way I'll be looking for updates since I can't watch or listen to it tonight- instead attending high school girls basketball game tonight!

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I mentioned the Dom thing months ago and i got tore to shreds. What the heck?

I believe the games against MSU are the only games that have any more importance than the others. All other games stand equal in my mind. 3 points this week is the same as 3 points next week.

Any word on who's out for tonight? or in?

I don't want this to come across as a complaint, but I would like to make a suggestion about the twitter page. It would be nice to have a lot more updates (if the person running it is too busy doing whatever else then I understand). When the dogs go on the road the video (if available), or audio usually never works for me (It's due to my internet but I'm changing it soon). Due to this I refresh the twitter page every 5-10 minutes. I was just looking at U-M's twitter page, and updates seem much more frequent.

Sorry if I'm being a pain in the ***! Just a suggestion!

Tonight I am doing the twitter feed, so I can only update it in the intermissions. But in the past four or six games I have had a student do it for me and he does a really good job, I think numerous "Tweets" during the game. But hey, thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Disappointing loss tonight. The question I keeep asking myself are we icing the best team possible each night. Some guys scoring has dried up, for that matter there shots on goal have dried up.
We need our intensity in both ends and we need to minimize our giveaways
We played so well at the first of the season and now we are so inconsistent.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

5-3 loss in Columbus. In the 1st, Nagle looked slow and lazy. The entire game, the defense gave up way too many good scoring opportunities. Bishop, Bartkowski, and Boyd were too fast and too good on the attack. OSU penetrated into our zone as deep as they wanted. The Buckeyes could have/should have scored 8 goals. At the end of the day, 5 goals is just too many. And it always will be.

Last year, I was teaching 2nd grade and a boy in the class was spouting off about how smart he was. So in an attempt to bring him back to earth, I asked him, "What is the capital of Ohio?"

His answer: "O"

Thanks a lot! I hope I didn't come across as a pain!

Disappointing lose tonight. Can't say anything though because I didn't see it. I hope we don't start splitting every series (or even worse). This year has been way too good! I would hate to see us fall off the map, or play like we did last season! I really thought we underachieved the last 2 seasons, and I really don't want to see that type of hockey for a while.
