Fear Not America, Janet Napolitano Is On The Job

Re: Fear Not America, Janet Napolitano Is On The Job

And your way prevents it how...oh it doesn't so you fail again! Congrats on not only insulting an entire race of people, but doing so without actually stopping terror attacks from happening. It is hard to epically fail but you my friend have done so!

All Americans have rights...just some of us get more rights because we are the right color/religion...hmm where have I heard that before?

Racial profiling probably would have stopped 9/11 :p

Re: Fear Not America, Janet Napolitano Is On The Job

I feel safe enough. In fact, I feel overly safe. I want respect for my person back - I'm willing to up the risk of a terrorist attack on my particular flight by a couple thousandths of a percent if it would mean receiving the benefit of the doubt and not being presumed a criminal merely by having the nerve to buy an airline ticket to go somewhere.

Conveniently, that would also be cheaper than the current post-9/11 TSA model.

I think I agree. Setting aside this most recent incident, I've always believed that airport screening, to use the phrase previously posted, is security theatre. A few years ago I had a flight out of Richmond and spent a lot of time in the bar watching a bowl game. And from my stool I could see security. And while my experience was admittedly not scientific, it seemed like every time I looked up they were "wanding" granny.

However, the full court press El Al approach isn't possible in the US with tens of thousands of flights every day. I think we can all agree that when we're tipped off that there's some dude out there whose cheese has slipped off his cracker, we need to be more proactive about keeping him off our airplanes.

Janet does a 180 on her analysis of the "success" of the Detroit incident. Looks like the boss got on the blower from Hawaii and asked her the equivalent of: "are you out of your freakin' mind?"

At least she has a boss who holds his employees accountable when they eff up.

"Heckuva job, Brownie!!"

Yes. By all means put more money in to the intelligence and actually getting information to the right places, but don't make me ****ing **** my pants in the last hour of my flight. What good does that do? Now the terrorist will try to blow up the plane 1:30 before landing. Why can't I read a book or a magazine in the last hour? Afraid I'm going to have a magical paper bomb in there? The new restrictions are a joke, and every time we do crap like this the terrorists win.

Time to tune in to the monomania telethon. We've got to get a cure, and soon. :)

Evidently those more comical restrictions were "temporary" and some (many?) airlines are already dispensing with them.

Re: Fear Not America, Janet Napolitano Is On The Job

1) Because terrorists can't do things 1:30 before the end of the flight, right?
2) See above.
3) This helps, how?
4) Cause people don't have these things called eyes with which they can look out windows, right?
5) See 1).

Patrick Smith of Salon.com's Ask the Pilot segment is particularly critical of TSA for a lot of these reasons. He points out that anyone who's been in prison knows how to make a weapon out of almost anything. Me, I wonder why all the hoopla about 4oz of shampoo when they still serve wine in glass bottles aloft.

The Sicatoka wins the thread.

I concur.

Actually suprised they haven't gone after trains and buses here like in UK. or malls, theatre, pubs like in Russia.

The weakest link in the security chain is "who watches the watchmen". I know all airport employees get FBI background checks but people get bribed or blackmailed all the time or crooks without criminal record. Maybe the nude airline will take flight once again. :D

my way has a helluva better chance of stopping it than no way at all. But I'm glad you're an anti-American little *tch.

Wait...what? You want to restrict Americans rights and I want to preserve them and I am Anti-American?

It's not his rights, so they're not important. Those people aren't real Americans anyway. You're not a real American either. Neither am I, for that matter. We're American In Name Only.

This begs the question, Who is more real American, G.I. Joe or Hulk Hogan?

Most politicians are that way. I dare say all.
