Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Geography 101 - Fail

Just a bit south of Point of Rocks is Leesburg, VA - the hotbed of Mosby's Confederacy. You have to go further west along the Potomac to hit WVA.
To be fair, both VA and WV are just "across the river" from my house -- VA about a mile and WV about 7.

Fun historical trivia: Point of Rocks was a predominantly black village during the Civil War. In fact, the (going by the sign here) "Colored Cemetery" is one of 4 landmarks in our fair village (along with our train station and an old Catholic now turned Baptist church, both of which are lovely, and one of the oldest episcopal churches in the country).

This has been: "Hick towns of a few hundred people -- The More You Know."

Remember the old days when Linda McMahon had a shot at a Senate seat, 24 hours ago?

About that...

I can understand some 90 year old geezer Senator not being up to date on the fact that everything is taped, but Linda McMahon co-heads a massive entertainment company. Didn't she think this stuff would get out to a wider audience?

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

No problem OP. We can play that game. Tell me, what kings and queens was Brown meeting with again and which nations were their reigning over? Because, as has been proven, he didn't say this once, he said it multiple times. So, what's worse - a women hearing family stories that she's part Indian when she was a kid and running with it, or a Senator claiming he's a mover and shaker in the world of international diplomacy when it turns out he's full of BS?

She's a lawyer, right? With a license, and everything? No, wait. Nevermind. Tu Quoqe? She was 34 when she began a decade of lies that helped her career, not a child. Most people drinking something other than Kool aid would probably agree a grown woman with a law degree should probably not use family lore as the sole basis for claiming a legal status for which there was no proof. No explanation for practicing law without a license. Maybe some obscure Indian waiver.

This issue is evidently hurting Lieajawea, otherwise she wouldn't be bringing it up in her campaign spots.

It's not lying -- unless you get caught.
It's not cheating -- unless you get caught.
It's not murder -- unless you get caught.

Somewhere the ethical bandwagon got tossed in favor of what I/we can get away with.

She is one of the beautiful people, it doesn't matter. She lies about her heritage and appears to have practiced law without a license . Doesn't matter

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

yeah, and her financial disclosure shows her making $900,000 in annual income with her husband. real defender of the poor and meek.

You can be rich and defend the poor and meek. That's a genuinely dishonest post.

While I agree with you theoretically that some people can be rich yet defend the poor and weak, I do not think Ms Ooops I Forgot To Get Licensed Before I Charged Legal Fees to a Big Insurance Company for Representing Them is one of them.

It was genuinely honest disdain for her hypocrisy. she's not "defending" anyone. she's promoting herself. do you really think most regulators care about the people they regulate? if so, I have a few building inspectors I'd like you to meet, right after they are done accepting bribes from landlords.....

Seriously? By your argument, Romney cares even less so why pander to the "100% of America"? Sorry, "that dog don't hunt."

??? hey, if you're related to her or something, sorry, didn't mean to make it personal for you.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

I'm not related to her. I hate the woman. But what you're trying to argue is so patently absurd I had to respond.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

The GOP now supports Akin and are behind him 100% for election to the Senate. Stay classy, GOP!

Opie, its Scott Brown bringing it up and her responding as well she should. I realize you dream of every Dem being another Dukakis, as in unwilling to defend themselves, but you ought to know better by now.

Nothing shows her getting ahead by claiming an Indian heritige so if you have proof please provide. I'm guessing this race, like the Presidential one, is going to be serving you up a big tasty s # itburger to chow down on. Also, don't forget your promise to post a picture of the look on your face when the election returns start rolling in!

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Todd Akin comments that McCaskill was more "ladylike" in 2006. What planet does this guy come from?

"Here comes a voter into the voting booth and he’s voting for Romney," he said. "Is he going to cross over and vote for Claire McCaskill? I don’t think so. That doesn’t make any sense at all."

Todd Akin basically saying a vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for him. Stay classy, GOP!

McCaskill's biggest problem was she pledged to be transparent and then had one of those stupid "flew to Disney vacation on the public dime" scandals that gets staffers fired. In a neutral situation that would play big in MO, but obviously with Akin stepping in his own doo doo every day this is not a neutral situation.

MO is also getting redder and redder -- except for St. Louis it might as well be East Kansas by now. The Thumpers shoot anything with a "D" next to it, so it's always been an uphill battle. McCaskill is smart but, how shall I put this?, she makes Hillary seem like a laid back, warm human being.

Akin's best bet to to start whining that it's the "east coast liberulz" and the "liberal media" that are victimizing him. If he pulls a Palin turtle move he may be able to squeak by on the strength of the Dittoheads. I can see a lot of their wives in the safety of the polling booth voting for Romney and McCaskill, however.

Somebody brought up a good point about Akin, which was its not so much what he's already said that worries the national party, its what he might say after they decide to reverse course and back him. The big mistake here was Rove pulling his $$$ out. The RNC is nuts getting involved here, but a nameless, faceless SuperPAC would be as effective but with plausible deniability when people tried to link Akin to the Republican party.
